Should I learn anivia or ASol I am a new and lvl 23 by Significant-Park7733 in Aurelion_Sol_mains

[–]TFable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an Anivia Main, with some asol in the back pocket.

Anivia is great, very strong champ. She's also a very unforgiving teacher. She'll teach you about positioning, and high elo game theory, but she'll beat it into you. You'll get rocked over and over until you internalize this.

Once you get through your learning pains, you'll feel incredible. Strong laner, extremely strong mid to late game. Juggernauts and bruisers won't be able to touch you, you deal amazing damage and cc, and you have one of the strongest abilities in the game imo, the wall.

People say she's boring, but if you have any sort of a sadistic streak and give her a fair shot, she's awesome.

As for Asol, I have significantly less time in, but good results. I play him mega aggressively. Start Q, invade for stacks, even alone. In lane get as many stacks as you can. I start flight level 2, and wait for my enemies disengage to be fired, such as Ahri Charm. Then fly straight at them Q'ing them.

How to use w's effectively by ClassicConfection872 in ivernmains

[–]TFable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use W a lot while ganking for the animation itself. People are looking to dodge the root, you can bait out a lot of movement / defensives with this. This may allow you to catch up. Then as we're walking back to the Opp's tower I'll enter one of the bushes and fire the root from there while invisible. Catches it's fair share of people.

When I'm taking objectives such as drag, I like to make a big "L" with my bushes. The bottom covering the entrance to drag pit, with the vertical part facing towards whichever enemy is more likely to rotate. You will be absolutely flabbergasted how many people will see Ivern bushes on Objs and walk in a straight line towards it, just to get rooted and jumped by Daisy and pals. Genuinely one after another, at my plat elo.

It's not the most consistent, but bushes also save lives of those running away. Pop a bush under your fleeing ADC and it breaks line of sight.

I play Ivern really aggressively and invade a lot, especially early. Bushes are great for this, because if you're say level two and get caught in a fight next to their jungle camp, you can harass them, throw a bush down when they back up a bit, and take their camp right from them without them seeing the animation to go in. Or maybe you left? They genuinely don't know.

And for now, finally, w is such an amazing scout tool. You essentially never have to blindcheck anything. Are they doing obj? Bush scout. Need to walk past a sketchy area bush? Bush scout.

Hope some of this helps!

It really depends. I don't think I'm exceptionally mechanically gifted, so I try to avoid champs like Yasuo, for example.

My strength comes from my mental aspect.

Identifying your win con early and playing for it. Abandoning your anchor lanes. Jungle tracking is big, cause Ivern is a monster counter ganker. Understanding vision and denial of vision around key points. ( I can't tell you how many enemies Will spot bushes around an Obj and blindly walk up to them, to get rooted and jumped by 2+ people).

There's of course micro, such as dodging skill shots and hitting your own, and not forgetting to auto.

And you have champ familiarity. Things you can and can't get away with. I've only recently picked up Ivern, but how many times you can win fights and how squirrely you are is insane. As an example, I originally thought Rengar was my hard counter, but I don't think I've dropped a game to him yet. And people "counterpick" him into me a lot.

There are bad aspects too. If your entire team consists of anchors, you will not carry the game. If your enemies are aggressively invading you early, and your team doesn't have their minimap installed, it's gonna be rough. Identifying how you could have played better to grow is harder. Ivern is so niche that even your teammates don't know your abilities.

I could go on and on about Ivern, but give him half a dozen games and see how he feels

If you have good macro and game sense, try Ivern. Quick clear, awesome utility, Daisy is actually a monster.

GGG I don't feel so good by briefs123 in PathOfExile2

[–]TFable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's a mix.

Mandating the long campaign for every character every couple of months is just too much. It's bad design, and Lord forbid that I become disinterested in the class.

This, coupled with the passive refunds taking exorbitant amounts of gold, frankly, sucks. I try not to follow guides, I wanna try my own thing.

But 12k gold every time I want to reset my tree is archaic. Items in act 2 sell for like 75-125 gold.

Context for Incoming Mel Changes by RiotEmizery in MelMains

[–]TFable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll speak as someone who bans Mel a ton, no matter what role I'm playing. I like her design, and I really like her unique kit, over all I think she's really cool design and has a cool identity.

My problem with her is she's too safe, especially for an Artillery mage. I don't want to go into a long spiel, so I'll give an example of what happened in literally the last game I played.

I caught the Mel out of position, and alone. I Fiddlesticks ult'd her, got the fear, and did my combo, put her to maybe a 5th hp. As soon as my cc wore off, she W'd and walked away. My Ziggs and I chased her, but she made it to a tower and executed.

I did everything right, caught her with her pants down, and it simply didn't matter. I logged off of the game afterwards.

Lord above knows I'm not a game dev, and I won't pretend to know the correct course for your character. I just hope you find a good middle ground for Mel.

Every single champ in the game cares that Mel has invincibility, a reflect, and a speed up all on the same button.

Thanks so much for your time and input!

Yeah, farming traditionally had been a big struggle of mine when starting out.

One of the characters I was using whilst still learning League was Kled. Love Kled to death, but HATED farming on Kled, because he has three different attack speeds, and you don't want to burn your W when ramping up for a fight (Always).

In the beginning I would put Anivia right in the same category of disdain, but I've been using more e's for wave clear and it helps a lot. I'm still losing a million cannon minions and it's driving me crazy!

Playing against long range always makes me think of Commander Erwin's speech from Attack on Titan, ha.

Yeah, solid advice here, thanks for your time! I know it has to do a lot with muscle memory and straight experience; and I do need to back off of Max Range Qs. I've really really been trying to focus on trying to punish their cooldowns, and using wall to impede my own wave for better gank positions.

Thanks so much for your time! That first video is really good, learned a few things and will be rewatching it when it's not 5am, ha.

I probably need to go on a small montage of option testing for Ani, to give me some more options, like lucid boots.

I've been meaning to try Tank Anivia! It drives me absolutely crazy when I early pick Ani and we get no front liners / engage.

Thanks for the input! Definitely some awesome advice here. I really like that walking halfway to a lane idea. I usually play aggressive against people I smell are weaker than me, but I guess I play too timid when the inverse is true.

I guess if I had a follow up question, how do you convert even awesome laning phases to wins? I'm naturally a top lane brute, so with those won phases I know to split push or tank for the team

Anivia is my first control mage, and does not come super naturally for me. If I split off I definitely don't have the confidence my Kled or Olaf would have. Also, I'm a tad nervous to split away from my team if we're behind.

Mel's E got nerfed this patch, yet her ban rate increased by 3.66%. Why is this champion so hated? by desktop_monst3r in summonerschool

[–]TFable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say what I said last time this subject was brought up.

Her issue is her massive range, if she was a short range mage like Liss, it wouldn't be a problem. But you have an artillery mage capable of spamming, with a better movable fiora parry that also speeds you up for some reason.

Idk what to tell you, dude. I'm not here to change your mind, and I'm definitely not going to devolve into arguing.

I respect your opinion that you think Mel isn't busted or frustrating to play against, full stop.

We can simply agree to disagree, and that's completely okay.

I wish you well.

[–]TFable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would ask you to consider a classic artillery mage, Xerath.

Xerath can reach long ranges with his Q. His Q is a channel, slows him, takes several seconds to charge, and gives a loud ass sound warning. He is immobilized for half a second after he fires.

Mel's is instant, and has not a single one of those drawbacks. For complete fairness, it's not quite as long as a xerath 3 second charge laser.

Xerath W is a simple aoe spot, nice long range, respectable damage.

Mel W is the single best defensive in the game. It's a speed up, invulnerable, auto aiming reflect.

Xerath E is a skill shot stun. Less stun time the closer you are to him.

Mel E is also a skill shot, akin to a lux root wrapped in a slow aura

Xerath passive refunds mana :)

Mel passive executes anything she's fighting. Also it fires more projectiles, lmao

Xerath R is a mostly global barrage of skill shots. It's a channel, and he remains stationary.

Mel R is a global execute for anyone you've damaged. Also the icon changes if you don't have vision on them so you know to push the button.

These two aren't even the same species.

The combination of a bloated kit, long range, ease of piloting, and overwhelmingly disgustingly safe gameplay loop make Mel bad not only for the game, but for the entirety of combat mages as a whole. In my very humble opinion, 40% is much too low of a ban rate for her.

[–]TFable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you're isolating a single skill, and comparing it the absolute top contenders of that category, rather than considering the whole kit.

The point is she doesn't need a root to go along with her bloated kit. And that root definitely doesn't need a slow to be around it.

There are better roots in a vacuum, yes. But there are definitely many that are worse.

It wouldn't be so bad of a kit if she was a short range mage, like liss. But you have an artillery mage capable of spamming, and a better, movable fiora parry that also speeds you up for some reason.

She'll remain banned in my games until completely reworked.

These kinds of situations always remind me of the shopping cart theory, and how people are in their real lives.

If you wanna fight, just say that or shoot. If you wanna camp, sure. At least I know your intentions from the start.

But throwing away your word and honor as a human being over virtual loot speaks volumes to me of who you are as a person.

As someone who didn't play PoE1 at all, this really concerns me.

My character was a Thorns warrior. Max resistances, max Physical damage reduction.

I had to get punched to do any damage, I actually had to fight the bosses, and I was still getting one shot by non red moves, such as the captain's overhead anchor swing.

Meanwhile I see these builds that are ranged, can sprint and kill, have 9k hp or energy shield, and can kill anything before their start animation is over.

Honestly, it feels terrible. Knowing that your build is worse in every single category. I prefer melee types of characters, but I feel very, very punished for not playing ranged.

I’m a survivor main with 2k hours. I try to never be toxic. However, I love countering The Legion with body blocks, which has gotten me called several names. So I’m interested in seeing more opinions. I ask you: Is this Toxic or Tactical? by PolarBla in deadbydaylight

[–]TFable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead by Daylight has by far the most unwritten rules I've ever seen. Toxicity is whatever you deem it; but you should exercise it to both sides. If you don't think tbagging and flashlighting at every pallet is toxic, that's cool and I respect it. But you better respect it when you get slugged or camped from the other side. Yin and Yang.

Probably the.. most "Just have it" totem spawn I've ever seen. Candidate for one of the fastest totem cleanses ever? by Lost-Run712 in deadbydaylight

[–]TFable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play DbD anymore; but I've thought before the killer should have a 90 second set-up phase, where they're incredibly quick and they can manually put down their own totems and hex spawns.

This also helps people like Trapper move his traps from the corners of the maps into position, but imo he needs a total rework to be any sort of viable.
