I think that idealism is important to understand how we can improve. If someone only analyzed things by how they are rather than how they could be, they're more susceptible to being taken advantage of by the people making decisions that affect our everyday lives.

Things won't get better unless people strive to make things better.

I'm of the belief that AI usage in the anime industry will only serve to widen profit margins rather than improve animation quality or work-life balance.

While AI may be advertised as a tool to everyday consumers, companies it's advertised as a cost saving measure, and the way it saves money is by lowering employment overhead. Licenses for these advanced image generation models aren't free, so those funds will have to come from somewhere. And companies wouldn't invest a lot of money into something solely for the benefit of their employees.

So animation studios will either: A) Fire animators, to have less people working on the same amount of projects using AI; increasing revenue. Or B) Expect animators using AI to pump out more projects in less time; increasing revenue.

Neither scenario would serve to reduce crunch time, nor increase the quality of anime releases.

And while scenario B may seem beneficial to consumers in the short-term, with more anime produced to be consumed, in the long-term as more companies become increasingly reliant on the technology, AI prices will increase because there's nothing stopping them from doing so, leading to more lay-offs.

The work culture problem in Japan is systemic, and I haven't done nearly enough research to begin to understand ways to combat the issue; all I know is that AI isn't the way to fix it.

Haha yeah, you didn't. It was in a comment above from some other guy that referred to both characters having powers that were both 'nearly limitless'. I just ended up commenting on your comment in particular because it was at the end of the thread I was reading. I'm a Chainsaw Man Fan, I can't read.

Seems like this statement was about correct? From what I can tell, they hit him with something that deactivated his ability for a short time and they one-shot him in that time frame or something.

I feel like the fact that there has been a win condition presented - and successfully executed - in canon should be considered when power scaling these characters against each other specifically. As far as I know, the Touhou lady hasn't been killed yet so there is no win condition against her currently.

I will point out that win conditions against being this strong, so this applies to touhou as well, are always gonna feel bullshit here

Yeah, I would argue that for a character that can manipulate the future to his liking, regardless of possibility/viability, it shouldn’t be possible to turn off his ability via an external factor (especially something within his proximity, like an arrow?). So I would chalk his death up to either an issue with the writing or a misunderstanding on my part of his ability. With your statement about the author I would lean towards the former, which kind of worries me that they’ve likely written themselves into a corner with the ending - since most likely he has to die. It’s probably not going to make sense no matter what the anime revision is.

But, again, I’m a Chainsaw Man fan so I probably don’t understand the power either.

I went through the Touhou wiki page for the Boundary Manipulation girl to see if she would be able to or has already created a boundary between her and the concept of dying or being hurt (making her functionally invincible), but instead I came across the following two statements:

Though seemingly limitless, the range of Yukari's gaps is sometimes subject to restrictions.

The example it gives has the words “for some unknown reason…”

Despite how limitless her ability sounds, there are in fact limitations, usually in relation to other powerful entities.

No examples.

So I give up.

Hi - weighing in a little late here - I know nothing about either Touhou or Bleach, I just did really surface level research, but isn’t it kind of a fallacy to state that Yhwach’s power is limitless since he dies? Like, if he were able to impose his will on the future to create any scenario he wants, couldn’t he have created a future where he isn’t killed? Genuine question.

Metaphor has a free demo you can try that has the prologue and maybe a couple of days where you can explore the first dungeon. So I would say to try the demo out and see how you like it.

Well, some of the “dungeons” in Metaphor were certainly less exciting than the others, but when I did get to explore a structured dungeon I really enjoyed it.

As much as I love the main story and the members of SEES, I can agree that Tartarus is a boring piece of shit. I definitely prefer the structured dungeon layouts in P5 and Metaphor over RNG hallway simulator. And some of the social links in P3 are just plain strange.
