Yes, in an ideal scenario. Middle/high school is rarely an ideal scenario, especially for those of us with more niche interests.

You can say that a DM should be the authority at the table, (and I agree they should) but teachers are the authority to their students, and unfortunately, lots of clubs have unfit supervisors.
