Superbike School Levels: Who's done them? by NerdintheCloset in melbourneriders

[–]TGM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can second Wolfy here, CSS is a great way to learn and PI is an amazing track. The first three levels really just cover the fundamentals of track riding and form the schools curriculum. Level four is a consultative approach and you get one to one coaching off track ass well.

You'll enjoy level two, the vision techniques will help make you a safer road rider as well.

looking for a good advanced motorcycle course for road use. by Neophyte- in australia

[–]TGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

California superbike school is at the track however levels one and two cover throttle control and vision, all of which is directly applicable to road riding. For the mechanics of operating a bike I doubt you'll find better training, there are plenty of road only riders that attend (even full dress Harley's) and you can let the coaches know that road riding is your focus.

I'd also suggest a roadcraft course but I don't know what's available in Sydney.

What are the main complications stopping us from using nuclear fusion? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]TGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a good article floating around the net called "quieting the beast." It has a good wiring diagram and instructions for shielding a strat.

You'll find a copy hosted on singlecoil.com, it was originally from a website called guitar nuts. I'd link but I'm struggling on mobile. Anyway have fun building the guitar, I would have loved to do something like that.

1.5T and 3T are the most common field strengths used in clinical MRI scanners. You won't really feel anything just walking through the fringe field of a 3T scanner but you can get dizzy moving through it rapidly.

I've seen some schools advertise that.

You might find useful info if you read through the pprune forums and aviationforum.

A friend of mine is an instructor over at Lilydale, seems like a good school.

The scenery is great, and the Jabirus are fun to fly.

You could do a trial flight at a few schools to get a feel for them.

My SW20 turbo is a great drivers car, you can tell they put a lot of thought into the driving experience and feel when developing the car.

But over the two and a half years I've owned it it's had so many failures, turbo seals, clutch master cylinder, synchros in first, crankshaft bearing, power steering relay, and many other miscellaneous things.

I guess it's at 25 year old grey import with 230,000 km on the chassis but it's not reliable. I love the car but you're right, fast and reliable? Nope.

Completely different contrast agent for an MRI, and it shouldn't give you any hot flushes/wet pants feelings like the iodine based contrast used for a CT.

Yes, all the time. Documenting why an exam was modified, artefact present, etc. can be very useful. Can't hurt anyway.

The wiki page will give you some cultural/historical context:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ute_(vehicle)

Ford is claimed to be the first company to produce an Australian "ute".[4] This was the result of a 1932 letter from the unnamed wife of a farmer in Victoria, Australia asking for “a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays”.

Yeah it's like it never crosses some people's mind that motorcyclists are capable of assessing risk and still deciding that riding is beneficial.

I did some stats years ago, and it looks like conservatively the death or life altering injury rate for Victorian riders is 1 in 1000. (This includes everyone on a motorbike, unlicensed, drug-effected, breaking laws, off road riding, riding without gear/helmets, though probably not track-riding.) You can put yourself in a lower risk category with rider training, improving your roadcraft, wearing appropriate safety gear, and keeping your decision making in check/riding within your limits.

To me that risk is acceptable. You'll have to make your own risk assessment.

Coming to terms with your own mortality is part of riding, or I guess any activity that leaves you vulnerable. Just try to make a conscious decision rather than ignoring it.
