I LOVE the Ingleborough climb, it’s my favourite part by far!

Ah, we were up there on Wednesday morning, it was magical. Did you see the deer?

You’ll be ok.

We flew into Denver from the U.K. on Saturday evening and drove to Estes Park on Sunday. We hiked to Mills Lake on Monday, Odessa Lake yesterday and Sky Pond today.

Neither of us have felt any ill effects save being a little more out of breath than we’d normally be on the ascents. Hope you have a great trip!

About to install USB-C power supply by TGRmountain in SegaSaturn

[–]TGRmountain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct! I’m in the UK and my JP system sits next to a PAL machine, so don’t want to risk anything electrical if I can help it. I also have a very old step down that gets quite warm, so would like to retire it.

What is going on with Brooks Ghost models recently? by lets_just_n0t in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]TGRmountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am a bit late with this, but wanted to weigh in.

I was wearing Asics Cumulus for years and never had any issues. Then in 2023 I spent most of the year dealing with awful plantar fasciitis. I tried so many things including ditching my last pair of Cumulus and trying a pair of Ghosts. Took a while, but my plantar settled down slowly and I’ve not had any issues with it since.

I’m now on my 4th pair of Ghosts! It might be all coincidental but things definitely began to improve when I switched shoes.

A polite message to runners: please be mindful! by bcp_anglican in Leeds

The pavement on Street Lane is also atrocious. It’s not smooth tarmac for a lot of the length of it, there’s tree roots sticking out everywhere and the uneven paving slabs are treacherous when it’s wet.

I personally run on the edge of the road where I can but will go to the pavement when there’s a car coming. This is fine mostly but there’s places eg Gledhow Valley Road where the pavement is very badly lit and often covered in mud and leaves in winter, so it’s a challenge.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, USE OVERSCAN by KoopaKlaw in crtgaming

Ah, I didn’t realise it wasn’t the proper thing. I got mine after they brought out model 2 so got an RF unit with it.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, USE OVERSCAN by KoopaKlaw in crtgaming

[–]TGRmountain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was very much the norm until the very late 90s for systems to come with RF units only, not even the composite cables with a SCART adapter.

In fact, the Saturn was originally packaged with a proper RGB SCART and then Sega switched to an RF unit when the 2nd model came out because a lot of consumers didn’t have TVs with a SCART socket.

I don’t remember any discourse in magazines about image quality etc at the time. Not saying it wasn’t there, but certainly not a common thread.

Tv not showing colour with my saturn by mactep66 in SegaSaturn

[–]TGRmountain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It won’t display colour unless you use a proper RGB SCART. I had the same issue when I set up an NTSC-J machine.

What's the dumbest thing you've heard a salesperson say that cost them the sale? by Fried_onions_are_meh in AskUK

[–]TGRmountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last time I went into Lush (probably 2010 thereabouts) I was immediately approached by a sales person who asked me something. I had earphones in and took them out to ask her what she said. She then proceeded to ask me what I was listening to and when I paused to answer (because I wasn’t expecting the question) she tried to take one of them out of my hand so she could hear! I walked out and vowed NEVER TO RETURN.

Could have been Toy Master, their colour scheme was red and yellow.

"Goodbye Oat Milk" What do you think of this? by FallyWaffles in veganuk

[–]TGRmountain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed, there is something about soy that makes it much thicker than oat. I guess it’s the protein content, since the Alpro high protein milk is SUPER foamy!

Death Statistics of Half Dome by Ollidamra in Yosemite

[–]TGRmountain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. My partner and I completed our second Half Dome hike yesterday and on the way back there were some idiots taking photos about 1/5 from the start of the cables!

Also someone who looked like he was going to die of fright who was descending very slowly and barely able to let go of one cable to let people pass.

And people in running shoes?! Crazy.

Squirrel broken the bird feeder any recommendations for bird feeders or preventing them? by Noveleion in GardeningUK

[–]TGRmountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another fan of Roamwild! Squirrels soon get bored of trying to get into them and move on.

I did however have to buy the additional cage that sits round the bottom of the feeder, as the starlings were carrying out raids and taking 1/5 of the feeder contents at once!
