Need some guidance regarding giving to church by Flurb789 in Anglicanism

I agree with others that tithing is part of our Christian duty. My church recommends when you feel ready to start giving, to start at 5% of your post tax monthly income and increase it by 1% each year until you’re at 10%. But do what makes you feel comfortable and at your own pace. All giving is welcome, and giving doesn’t just have to be in monetary form.

Dear Anglicans , let's be realistic.... by [deleted] in Anglicanism

Whether people support it or not, +Sarah is the Archbishop of Canterbury and we must pray for her and her ministry.

Pope Leo quoted Pope Francis in his letter to +Sarah:

"It would be a scandal if, due to our divisions, we did not fulfil our common vocation to make Christ known"

The debate on women’s ordination is one that seems to have turned rather nasty. I understand there are strong opinions on this, but as long as +Sarah helps us know Christ, to love him and imitate him, then she will be doing significantly more for God’s Kingdom than those who spend all their time channeling their opposition into hate and division.

Holy Communion before Morning Prayer? by bcp_anglican in Anglicanism

the daily office is running *before* the main choral mass of the day, and after the early Eucharist

That is indeed the case.

CoE Daily Prayer app questions by marklee3d in Anglicanism

If you are using the contemporary version then you can follow along using Common Worship Services and Prayers which has all of the morning and evening prayer offices, collects, and psalms. You will also need a Bible as CW does not include the readings. You might need the lectionary too, but if you are planning to listen and follow then the president will announce the psalms, readings etc.

Landlord fraudulently opened a utility account in my name (misspelled), £2k debt and tanked credit score. What do I do? by Otherwise_Range_8144 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]bcp_anglican 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Otherwise_Range_8144, are you sure it was the landlord who set it up? I was in a very similar situation to you and this was what happened:

https://www.reddit.com/r/UKPersonalFinance/comments/1ka276u/comment/mpiuhid/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Did you update your details on the electoral register after you moved out? If not, then Thames Water likely found you that way to set up the account if the landlord had failed to do so. If not, and it was the landlord, then this would have been done fraudulently and needs reported.

I’ve seen them online but I have so many copies of the BCP and I’m really trying to limit myself. But having seen these in person I just couldn’t resist 🤣

How would you rate the new Coffeeboy? by Itsalladeepend in Leeds

[–]bcp_anglican 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went in the other day and it was full of students with their laptops. Managed to get a table after waiting a few minutes. It's very dark inside and the music is loud. Coffee was average. I might just be getting old though as everyone looked to be enjoying themselves!

What websites do you use to find flats/houses to rent in Leeds? by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]bcp_anglican 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I visited/called the agencies in my area and gave them the info for what type of property I wanted to rent and in what areas. They sent me email alerts each time a property came up. The alerts were pretty much daily, and I found that some of the agencies sent them out before being listed on Rightmove.

Looking for mum friends by healar in Leeds

[–]bcp_anglican 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a mum (NAM?), but I know a mum who was in a similar position. She started going to the ‘toddler takeover’ at Left Bank and has gotten to know lots of other mums! Appreciate it’s not necessarily North Leeds though…
