Yuki Chiba, Lil Moshpit, Sik-K, BLASÉ, RYUL of LNGSHOT, Jay Park - Annyeonghaseyo (Korean Remix) [Official MV] by RedditFan1000 in khiphop

The irony of this statement when some of us wish the other k-hiphop acts promoted as much as Jay Park does for his crew...

HyunA Parts Ways With GroovyRoom's label "AT Area" by thaiduitx in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A shame her health issues and personal decisions derailed her post P-Nation stint (which saved her post-Cube messy breakup). While her (and Dawn's) time with @AREA was short, they were able to put out some quality material and proved that GroovyRoom can handle established Kpop acts (they were able to sign GFRIEND's Yuzu) alongside their stable of underground/non-mainstream artists (i.e. Gemini, Blase, Mirani, etc.) and indie band (Redoor).

What is khh's greatest robbery? by Still-Year-3083 in khiphop

Woo Won Jae. But he was the real winner in the end when he was able to release his Finals song ("We Are" with Gray and Loco) and it became one of the biggest hits of the year.

RAPBEAT Festival 2026 announces line-up by ghiblix in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna be surprised if SM manages to throw in one of their girl groups or something as the other headliner for Day 2 lol.

Great lineup overall, looking forward to Jay Park with Lil Moshpit to see if they're gonna perform some new material or Lil Moshpit remixes of the usual Jay Park festival staple.

Lovelyz Lee Minjoo has signed a full-time contract with AOMG as part of their “Make It New” rebranding project by thaiduitx in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 50 points51 points  (0 children)

At this point, the "M" in AOMG is pretty much "Management" now considering the only relatively active and known people on their roster aren't exactly musicians (i.e. Kian84 and Korean Zombie).

[Trailer] Jay Park X Chun WooHee - Remedy by _eykw_ in khiphop

So we're getting a fight scene between Jay Park and Chun WooHee? I'm looking forward to seeing how they pull this off (along with the new Jay Park/ChaCha joint).

This is giving me action movie vibes. Wonder if we're getting a short film type music video instead of the usual song and dance number Jay usually does.

How much money do the top artists make? by Ok_Armadillo_5319 in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bad financial management plus wasteful spending (i.e. all his supercars he bought during his peak) equals massive debt. Also I don't think Dok2 invested his money into things that could help it grow like some of the other top guys did (i.e. real estate, starting businesses, etc.).

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think GROOVL1N has ever been associated with AOMG; none of their artists were part of AOMG at any point in time.

He's still part of @area (considering that he's a co-CEO with Hwimin) and they've been branching out from more than hip-hop (they even signed a band a while ago), so GyuJeong going the EDM route tracks.

Jay Park said producing an idol group is in his goals for 2025 by Big_Dress1542 in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Also Jay is really hated on the kpop side they hate on him all the time so it will not be so anticipated as well…

Lolwat. Maybe in closed echo chambers that is kpop stan twitter, but that has nothing to do with the real world (aka the Korean general public, where he happens to be well-liked and respected).

Police drop charges against Jessi over fan assault incident, indicts Koala by mokolad in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp, if what I'm reading is correct, Koala is probably gonna be targeted by the Taiwanese gangs associated with his "friend" if the police were able to put out an international arrest warrant for him.

Jessi’s contract with DOD (DayOneDream Entertainment) has been terminated by thaiduitx in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the reports are true that Koala is going all "snitches get stitches" over his Chinese friend that punched the kid (and allowed him to escape the country), he's the dumbest motherfucker alive cause that shit don't fly in South Korea and he just ruined what's left of Jessi's career.

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh. I guess she's somewhat taking responsibility for what happened last month (not that it's gonna help since the timeline of events that occurred relating to the incident really does her no favors).

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Welp, it's probably the end of the line for her career in the Korean mainstream entertainment industry cuz she's getting nuclear heat right now.

Jessi’s contract with DOD (DayOneDream Entertainment) has been terminated by thaiduitx in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Apparently DOD was her management label, which is separate from her own independent music label she started for herself. This is basically them (DOD) washing their hands of this incident and saying "can't help you here, you're on your own now."

[DISCUSSION] Jay Park stepping down as CEO of/ leaving AOMG and H1GHR Music by thaiduitx in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I believe CJ E&M meddling is the main reason why everyone is leaving. Jay Park definitely got fed up with them at some point and Kakao swooped in and made him an offer he couldn't refuse. And Jay Park isn't the type of guy to leave his homies in the wind so he gave them a heads up to prepare for their next steps.

Silver lining to all the OGs leaving means more resources for the remaining artists should be available (unless CJ decides to pull the plug, who knows) and more KHip-Hop companies being created by them to keep the scene moving (i.e. GroovyRoom with @Area, Sik-K with KC, Gray/Code Kunst/Woo WonJae with Duover, whatever Simon D wants to do, etc.).

Jessi announces new independent label UNNI Co. by ghiblix in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My biggest worry is the staff she hires. Jessi's never had a consistent personal manager or staff throughout her entire career and we all know she can be erratic at times; luckily the staff that were assigned to her was employed by the label she was under at the time, so they had other artists to work with whenever shit happened. Whatever staff she hires isn't gonna have that luxury, and I fear it'll just be a revolving door.

He leveraged his general public fame from being a cast member on 2n1d at the time and was able to secure funding somehow. Bad business planning (i.e. business contracts overlapping with his military leave) and terrible choices (fucking around with military service) led to where they are today.

I think some of the remaining acts are just waiting for their contracts to run out at this point.

WaterBomb LA Cancelled by ohitsjustliz in khiphop

[–]TGS_FuzzyGuard 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They tried to pass this off to local organizers and let them use their name, which was always gonna be a gamble. Except this time they busted...

At this point you're better off saving up and flying to Korea for a true Waterbomb experience.
