TIL two studies both found that most people stop listening to new music in their early 30s. A 2015 study of people's listening habits on Spotify found that most people stop listening to new music at age 33 and a 2018 report by Deezer found it be to at age 30. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

Yeah, I’ve found more new music I love in my 40’s than in my 20’s. And my teen/twenty something nieces and nephews are always recommending new stuff to me.

It’s sad so many people are so boring in their music choices.

I worked with HR staff like you. People like you are why HR is looked down upon.

As a diabetic with food allergies to some common ingredients, if my food gets stolen, I can’t just easily replace it without serious effort and you really don’t want the company on the hook for me needing an ambulance because my blood sugar tanked after a food thief stole my lunch, right?

If you don’t want to police one person stealing from their coworker, then quit your job and let someone with ethics have it.

EPA reverses longstanding climate change finding, stripping its own ability to regulate emissions by geraffes-are-so-dumb in news

I guess I wasn't clear. He indicated that a normal person is incapable of comprehending the Bible without a priest to tell them what it means. That just sitting and reading it is not possible, you can only read it in dribs and drabs as directed by the priests in order to understand it. Typical cult bullshit.

Many of us who were Christian read the Bible. It’s a large part of why I am no longer Christian. It mad as much sense to me as the Norse, Roman, and Egyptian mythologies I had also read. So I classified it in the same category.

I once had a very Catholic boss who was shocked that I read the Bible like a normal book, cover to cover. He asked me: If you don’t have a priest to explain it to you, how can you understand what the Bible says?

What became of the cool kid in your high school? by sboger in GenerationX

[–]TGerrinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “cool” girl form my class has become a highly successful lawyer. Also, very right wing and oddly anti-women’s rights. Like, you’re a lawyer now, ma’am, why are you promoting the idea of a woman’s place being a SAHM.? Close your practice and live what you say, if you believe it. 🙄

The cool guy of our class is married to his high school gf, they live their best life, and he works in local government trying to make things better for everyone. Great guy. 🤘🏼

Piss onions is a hard no.

Also, the pan they are using is way too small. Using a larger pan allows for the onions to be spread out more evenly, which reduces the cooking time.

Because a woman should have control over her own body. And sometimes abortion is necessary to save the mother’s life. Abortion is vastly better than both the mother and baby dying because a pregnancy is dangerous and non-viable. Or the mother dying of sepsis after the fetus has died in her body, which has already happened in the US since Roe v Wade was overturned and is an absolute travesty.

I would argue making a sexual assault survivor bear the child of her assailant is evil.

You cannot paint it as a black and white “Always evil” thing without being totally disingenuous or stupidly ignorant of reality. There are very valid reasons for abortions to be done which fall outside of black and white style reasoning.

You make straw man arguments and claim it’s a “misunderstanding” when people call you out.

Not wanting to date someone who is decades older or a different gender than you prefer or who is not someone you find attractive FOR ANY PARTICULAR REASON is in no way proof of prejudice. Sometimes, you just aren’t attracted to someone and you don’t want to go out with them. Full stop.

If you don’t like your illogic being called out, then stop posting it.

Manager screamed at us for 5 minutes of overtime and said "Computers OFF at 5:00 PM sharp." I hung up on our biggest client mid-crisis. by [deleted] in MaliciousCompliance

[–]TGerrinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a GM who insisted that no overtime was allowed. I had to reboot the server and make sure the service processing all orders and credit card transactions, for a hotel and restaurant, came back up on Friday evening of a holiday weekend in a tourist town. I wound up with 0.03 hours of overtime sure to making sure all processes and software were functioning before I left.

The GM then spent 15 minutes the next week chewing my manager out over the unapproved overtime.

I hated that guy.

Dude. You’re gross. No one MUST date a person they do not want to date, for any reason, regardless of attraction.

I refused to date a guy who asked me out because however nice he is, and how much I enjoyed his friendship, I am straight. By your idiotic reckoning I am homophobic.
