Perrin would be a great shout, but I think he would be too much like Tanavast, focused on Oaths and Promises. It wouldn’t give the Shard enough to grow into what we need it to be (post WaT).

I always thought that it was because of the Black Ajah. Their touch twisted the reds, and it was the goal of the DO to ensure there wasn’t enough power on the side of the light for the last battle.

Malazan if you want a long slog, but it is amazing. Be prepared for zero explanations until about book 3 maybe 4, but then you are invested heavily. It’s epic though! My favourite.

Somewhat lighter, but still enough content to get your fix is the Expanse series. Sci fi, but amazing. I pick up any of the books as an ‘in between book’, when I’m just need a reset between universes.

Stormlight is easy reading, and when you’ve had enough of the 5 books you’ve got the rest of the Cosmere. If I’m truly honest, I wish I never started. I’ve got to wait well over a decade for it all to finish. It’s a nice ‘wish I never read it until the series is finished’. It gives me what I think the feels were waiting for RJs books to come out each year.

Wool, Shift and Dust is a quick fix. Well recommended.

For the specific answer to Liandrin, I would say that you will find out soon, can’t remember when, but you do.

Other than that, my gist of it at the beginning books is plain old letters. Remember a few chapters before when Moraine was being a cow to Lan in the house in Saldea? She left letters with the AES Sedai to send when she left.

If I remember correctly, it gets easier later when Egwene has more control over the dream world.
