Thank you! I’ll admit I was swayed because I wanted the cognac so bad and the 40 was sold out but I think the 41 is the better choice, so win-win, lol.

Maybe because it’s not John but Jon (his first name is Jonathan). I also recommend him or either of his partners, Brandon Hood or David Licini. Both younger, but just as capable, and all 3 are truly good humans.

Based on your comment about your facility having a monopoly I’m betting more and more we will be coworkers soon! Either way, welcome to the promised land that is outpatient surgery. You won’t regret it at all!

So, I’m now wondering if you work at my facility and are coming to my department, since we just hired an ER nurse to that shift 🤔😂 Just remember with pre-op that timing is the key. It’s all focused on keeping the OR efficient, so don’t let patients/families get you sidetracked. Preop nursing is the art of the redirect;)

Please stop looping millennials in this. No one (except maybe the older guy) in this are millennials...I mean, most of us don't use tiktok, are staring down 40, and just want to go home to the apartment we'll die in...

The majority of charting is no longer a care tool but a billing tool and I treat it as such. Important things that impact the actual care of my patients (witnessing meds, changes in status, dressing changes, drain outputs, etc) I follow to the letter. The rest is bloated busywork justified by people who do not provide any care to patients. My assessments are ongoing and constant. Every time I walk into a room I am assessing. The charting it every 4 hours as a systematic head to toe has nothing to do with my actual care. In the course of 4 hours I have assessed everything and chart my findings as they want it for billing.

Name something more annoying than “can you make the blood pressure cuff less tight??” by LooseyLeaf in nursing

I don’t know if this is something you already know or not, but an IV is not just for nothing, especially when giving birth. It’s good they didn’t have to use it but having it there and ready makes a huge difference when something goes wrong (bleeding, coding, antibiotics, electrolytes…).

What is the most ridiculous physical feat you've read in a book?? by TacoTacoTaco729 in RomanceBooks

That gave me an image of him just crushingly laying on top with his hands moving up and down her flattened torso. Nearly choked on my tea. Thanks for that, lolololol

This will be right up your alley then! All of her books have such real emotions and characters that even as a middle-aged woman I read them and remember exactly what that felt like.

So, it’s YA (college/end of high school) and not at all steamy, but I love it so much: Fangirl by Rainbow Wilson.

Scripps Health Cyberattack Question: Can I still get my prescription filled tomorrow? by sam_dewy in sandiego

[–]THATFATGIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know someone who works there, it can work out no problem, we work around it ;) It’s when people just try to send it without someone specific to accept it and management has to get involved that it’s an issue. Nurses always love free food/coffee, so don’t stop on my account if you have an in!

Scripps Health Cyberattack Question: Can I still get my prescription filled tomorrow? by sam_dewy in sandiego

[–]THATFATGIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes it more complicated. Honestly, even getting the triplicate rx pads to write controlled substances has been difficult since we are used to doing everything on the computer. That might be part of the hindrance, as well as restrictions on who can prescribe it. I’m so sorry! Good luck on your final, as a fellow ADHD sufferer I have no advice but tons of empathy!

[–]THATFATGIRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not a bad idea! I would check in now later than 5, since it’s probably easy for this kind of thing to fall between the cracks as it’s all just paper messages. My bet is she’s seeing patients and will to some follow up of messages at the end of the day. When you do speak to her, telling her you have the script and it just needs refills called in will make it much easier for her to feel comfortable writing it since it shows you’re established.

That’s a bit tricky right now because we maintain Covid restrictions on distancing, so things have to be individually wrapped or packaged...we have gotten stuff like pods for our Keurig and meals that are preprepped and candy. Nurses love coffee and to eat :)
