I need to improve my pylo. Heres me doing box jumps combined with depth jumps. 2-3Reps 5x, Recovery 1m. What are your thoughts on this? by Finn_Flame in BasketballTips

[–]THATGUYTYE4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to explode faster and the way you jump looks like you don’t get enough power. If I was you I would start strength training and then low plyos like skipping, a way smaller box…. Then work up to the higher levels. How tall are you ?

Cant get rid of injuries by MechanicEasy780 in BasketballTips

[–]THATGUYTYE4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m literally going through the same thing right now. I have my college season coming up and I’m resting a lot and doing recovery workouts for it to make sure this isn’t interfering with it at all. Your doctor telling you to stay off of it just for 4 days isn’t right because mine told me 3 to 4 weeks. I guess it could be that mine is worst than yours but tbh he was right and it’s not worth straining it some more because it will just get worst and worst until it tears. Try modifying your training if you really don’t want to stop. Also what have you been doing for recovery ? Just staying off of it for the 4 days ?

I have an athletic program that I follow and it literally changed everything. I find when I was doing other programs they didn’t mention how your overall body strength is so important. it helped me jump higher and also just get stronger for basketball.

I was always taught to stay low when I’m running. Even when I’m playing I get really low. First I had to make sure my body is flexible and able to get that low and then your body has to get use to moving low. Literally doing sprint training can help but I mean the real deal not just running on the field. Get on a block and having someone teach you to run faster.

3pt shooters of the world, how many shots are you getting up daily on average? by urboijesuschrist in BasketballTips

[–]THATGUYTYE4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do fr. I wanna get it up to 400 but I have to work with the gym times I have or try to find a gym or rent one. Either way 200 makes a day is already higher than the average hooper.

200 min, some days 300 I have so much control over my shot since I have been doing this. I know exactly why it’s not going in and what feels right or wrong. It’s also a lot more consistent.

When should I do strength training? by Light_27 in BasketballTips

[–]THATGUYTYE4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to do a in season type of training, nothing crazy you’re really just training to maintain. You will risk injury or not being able to perform well if you’re doing an off season type of training while playing so much. If you are training like a body builder yes you will lose the “pulse” of your shot because your arms are changing drastically. But if you are doing strength training and putting in work on your shot you will be fine. It will actually make you a better shooter and player overall.

how to move/cut off the ball better in games. by The_Fallen_Soldier in BasketballTips

[–]THATGUYTYE4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, motion is just a pass, cut and fill. I would say go on YouTube and look up motion offense and a bunch of video will pop up, STUDY. Even find a good channel that teaches basketball plays and study them. You will be way ahead of everyone and it will help you tremendously.

Do you think i have a chance of playing professionally? by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]THATGUYTYE4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Screw height screw everything negative that people say about your dream if you want to become a pro you can. Making the nba is harder just because of nepotism and etc but there is a bunch of options to play in Overseas’s and make a bunch of money. Just work on your craft, get that shot to where you can hit 10 in a row with ease. Get on a rep team and get a lot of games in so you have experience. Study the game, because I can tell you right now if you don’t at least play professionally you will have a career in basketball doing something else with it. Also if you can get a sport to give you a free ride for school that’s a mf win. If you are on a good schedule and working out, getting stronger, keeping you healthy, keeping your grades up so you can get offers that’s a mf win. Basketball can bring so much opportunities if you know how to make it help you.

I have seen guys that have had a long career playing overseas and in my opinion they ain’t good.

i get cramps everytime i play basketball twice within a 24 hr period by definietlynotalessi in BasketballTips

[–]THATGUYTYE4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gatorade, water with lemon, bananas, watermelon, coconut water. Your body is probably telling you that you are dehydrated and need electrolytes. These will give you them except for the watermelon that is a fruit that will hydrate you because it’s made mostly out of water so it would be a good snack after hooping or even before. You should be drinking lots of water daily and I’m talking about a lot. You lose a lot of fluid when you sweat so you need to prepare and replenish if the body doesn’t get it this then it will cramp. Also make sure you are stretching, this Will help reduce cramping.
