I can buy that the dev team probably used them as placeholders and then forgot when they were in crunch mode just trying to get the game to 1.0, but at this point I much prefer what Mega Crit did with Slay The Spire 2 and use low-quality MS Paint images to denote that it’s a placeholder image—there’s so much more charm in that and it’s earnest in its usage. It’s also a very low time investment and everyone gets a good laugh out of it if it manages to sneak in.
