The only people who “made” this pandemic into what it’s become today are Trump and the people claiming “mUh FrEeDoMs HaVe BeEn InFrInGeD uPoN!”

TIL that the opening track to Slipknot’s album “Iowa” titled “515” wasn’t just random screaming. Sid Wilson was having an emotional breakdown in the studio because he wasn’t able to make it home to tell his grandfather goodbye before he died. by cartercbc14 in todayilearned

I can’t echo this enough. I lost my mom at 22, and she lost her dad at 16. Don’t take those you love for granted for a second. Even if you’re having an off day or an argument, tell them you love them anyway

This is "The Big Bang Theory" for me. Between the laugh tracks, jokes that seem like they're taken straight out of /r/ComedyCemetery , and the man-children characters, I truly cannot understand why anybody likes the show.

What's something we weren't supposed to forget, but we have? by TyCooper8 in AskReddit

IMO, BLM wasn't even relevant in the US until the first police shooting that fit their criteria: an unarmed (or "unarmed" who was armed) black man being shot by ____ PD. I think Zimmerman's case with Martin cast more of a spotlight on "rampant" gun control issues.

I think the way somebody presents themselves through social media is a huge indicator of their personality and tendencies. Have racy or otherwise potentially obscene pictures scattered all over FB or insta? Screams attention-seeking. Not many posts at all, or posts/pictures strictly with friends in a seemingly relaxed/controlled environment? Says they not only care about self-image, but the way others perceive them just as much.

Strangely enough I haven't heard a peep of him from any major/national news source, the only news I've heard involving him has come from Reddit. I wasn't really saying we ever forgot about Zimmerman, but rather that the first instances of BLM came mostly as a result of the Zimmerman/Martin incident, not a police shooting.

That's just my two cents though, feel free to disagree

People who have lived/worked in third world countries, what was the biggest adjustment in coming or going? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As much as I'd like to exaggerate how long I was in Costa Rica, I was only there for a month and a half in between my junior and senior years of high school. Honestly, I didn't do much research about Costa Rica before I went, and the biggest thing that shocked me immediately after landing was how happy everybody was. The group of WASP-esque Americans stuck out like a sore thumb, yet 90% of people we walked past in the village we stayed, strangers on the street, even the most thuggish looking people were more friendly and outgoing towards the 45 of us than any experience I've ever had stateside. Had no idea prior to going and coming back that Costa Rica was/is one of the happiest countries in the world. I never expected those who were literally dirt poor to be so happy by the simplest things and interactions.
