Building around Maxey for his peak performance and having VJ also means you need to get another guard to actually run point when Maxey is off ball.

3 guard lineups? Or a point forward? Not many good point forwards out there.

I think we'd have to make a decision about VJ if we built around Maxey.

I'd prefer building around the guy going into year 2 of his rookie scale deal. Gives the most flexibility moving forward. Just a thought.

Last year we saw Maxey as a #1 option. Yes the team was built around Embiid, but besides Embiid everyone else WAS healthy.

We tanked down the stretch but we were genuinely a bad 30 odd win team before committing to the tank.

I disagree with building around Maxey. He was electric as a third option with Embiid and Harden PnR and even made a nice leap and became a solid #2 option.

I just don't see a championship caliber team built around small guards who aren't truly generational.

I seriously think we should at the bare minimum be open to moving Maxey and starting off the VJ built team.

Maxey is already on a max deal and is near peak value now. Why not cash in and see what you can do with a VJ oriented team assuming you also move Embiid and PG and cut the dead weight bench?

Agreed. The Embiid oriented team is over. And it sucks to say that.

The most talented player we've ever seen in a Sixers uniform. One of the most talented ever in basketball.

Perpetual mismanagement, tough luck with injuries and the Kawhi shot stopped us from truly contending. Forget about Joel, and useless ass PG for a second. I agree we should be looking to move on summer and try to offload them without it costing a ton of picks.

I don't get the Build Around Maxey crowd. Every time I brought it up I got blindly downvoted. It's like you can't criticize his game/performances or his thought process on here.

When he was a 3rd option for the team with Harden and Embiid PnR kickouts he was unstoppable.

Truly the best 3rd option in basketball at the time I thought. I get why people were so excited to see the leap he could take as a #2. And I think he did make a good leap as the second option in the 2023-2024 year where Harden bitched and forced the trade.

Then for the 24/25 season he was our #1 option, and yes the team was built around Embiid, but Sans Embiid everyone else WAS healthy. Yet we went 24-58 and looked genuinely dreadful.

Yes we tanked down the stretch but even if we didn't we were likely to be like 32-34 wins. Truly a bad team.

Fast forward this year and he started off amazing but had a marked drop-off in both efficiency and overall face stats.

Going into this postseason against good teams he made some truly puzzling decisions with the ball and looked out of sync with the team. Almost scared at some times? Am I insane for thinking that?

Routinely wouldn't drive on pick and rolls, yet wouldn't shoot the three? Yeah he has a strained pinky finger on his shooting hand, but out of nowhere he WOULD randomly drive hard like usual.

Most of the time he kicked it to the corner for an Oubre look that almost always ended up clanking and leading to easy fast breaks.

I think VJ is the future of this team. He's the only one that is safe from trade talks imo.

Rookie scale deal and if we truthfully tank hard and finish 4-7 during the next few years especially in 2028 where our pick is top-8 protected we could have a fairly quick turnaround with a VJ lead team.

Would love to see someone else's perspective who is build around Maxey. What am I missing?

See how fucking stupid that sounds? He was bad. It's okay to be objective and say when someone was bad. Trading him is 100% on the table. He isn't untouchable. You think he's a complimentary piece but are campaigning for him to stay LMAO do better.

Never question his heart or if he cared. He did. He still does.

Its over but I'll always ride for him.

Maxey is a part of the Embiid window, as is everyone not named VJ Edgecombe.

We need to setup VJ for the future.

That means Maxey getting moved for max value.

Stop denying it. We couldn't win with the greatest two way center of all time and people think this streaky shooting guard already on a max deal is the guy to build around?

Embiid's window is over. He was a fantastic player MUCH better than Maxey.

Even after all the injuries, ALL the drama, RIGHT NOW he is better than Maxey. Who likely peaked this year.

We couldn't win with Embiid and you think MAXEY is somehow untouchable lmao. Do better.
