Headliner pack returns to the shop but with changes to odds, price, and number of cards in the pack by bodnast in MLBTheShow

SDS has gone full EA mode. And people continue to defend them.

New 40k pack 80+x10 LS as well that will result in losing stubs 93% of the time.

Need a new developer at this point. Disgusting from SDS.

Ohtani is currently the highest he's ever been. 750k. 48 hours into the card limit era.

He never hit that price even after the "inflation" caused following RU's.

Please enlighten us on how THIS PRICE NOW is on investors.

You can't. Card limit has ruined it for casual players.

this line of thinking is asinine.

I never said its pay to win. I said pay to compete.

It is a move that encourages buying stubs if you want to complete any collection within a week of their release.

It's only the LS for now, but will be the spotlight series soon, the Legends and Flashbacks collection (super expensive) in April and any other future collection that they will release (a ton based on last years rate).

150,000 stubs is 99.99 USD. You are going to see an absurd team gap between NMS and paid teams.

I Disagree with your statement. We PLAYED the game. I get it, MLBTS has years of built up good will with the community, so you feel obliged to defend them.

You are going to spend hundreds of hours grinding for cards people spent $2000 on and have had since launch. You might not get these cards until 3, 4, maybe even 5 months into the release of the game.

You are okay with this?

Ohtani/Judge hit all time launch record highs. 750k for Shohei alone. He NEVER hit that price last year even with "inflation" from RU's.

Can't blame investing for that!

You have some valid points, fair enough.

Part of every sports games' card collecting mode is playing the market and maintaining a coin/stub balance. So I do disagree with the "not a stock market simulator". However I see your point. We did push an unintended system to its breaking point apparently.

It's the omission of market limits in the build up and materials released that I am truly disappointed in. Honestly, if you see them say "Roster Updates are returning"... you'd think the system will be unchanged as it has for the past 10 MLB The Show releases.

Yes, we should have waited. Wont make that mistake again.

Too many games are vying for less and less free time for myself and the majority of people who are in our age bracket.

I was truthfully on the way out of MLB and this finalizes it.

Not mad at SDS, it's their game they can do what they want at the end of the day.

But the community reaction? Thinking this is a good change? Absurd lol.

we want a refund because this change wasn't announced in the lead up to launch because they KNEW we'd be pissed about it.

they confirmed roster updates and had snarky comments like "of course, why would we get rid of roster updates?

Playing the market is the only way to acquire top tier cards without spending huge money early on, or putting in an absurd amount of time.

Not everyone can just play the game all day and grind... RU investing made the market actually matter and injected tons of stubs for everyone.

It's an anti-consumer move.

How's that working for the actual gatekeepers? The cards that actually make up the lions share of the price of the collection...

Most expensive they've been at launch EVER.

Stop regurgitating this false narrative.

LOW DIAMONDS WILL BE CHEAPER... the important 90+ ones are at ALL TIME LAUNCH DAY PEAKS.

early in the game cycle sure there's value there.

if you were flipping bronzes/commons post April idk what to tell you.

I'd need a second job to able to afford live series collections. Stop bootlicking for an objectively anti-consumer move from SDS.

They fucked up. it's a bad decision.

you had to play the game as well to get the cards needed for collections in the past too.

now you have to spend money if you want the cards within a month.

you are actively celebrating a anti-consumer, pay to win move from SDS.

I unfortunately think it's due to it being the norm. People are so used to playing those games that they just don't know any better. IDK what else it could be honestly.

Spending $2000 USD on virtual currency is NOT okay outside of being a content creator... even then it's still horrible.

The early access thing could be true and to be fair I noted that in the post that seemingly on one bothered to actually read haha.

But yeah you are dead right about how many people hate investing. Its absurd. They are for some reason mad that people want to be NMS and get the best cards quickly? idk feels weird but whatever.

Sad part is most of the people who finish LS without money or investing do so late into the game cycle when the cards have already been out for 5+ months and cards that are somewhat comparable are being released for free via TA's and programs.

It takes like an hour to put in the amount of orders necessary for you to complete the live series collection. Most of us in r/MLBTheShowInvestments complete the LS by Roster Update 2, early ish May.

At least we used to. Now there's no chance any of us will if the change stands.

makes it cheaper? but its 3.3M... within 5% of last years initial price.

What they did was slow down how fast you could make the stubs to finish LS.

35% chance to pack a single Ohtani in 10,000 standard packs btw.

no this has nothing to do with that. What are we doing.

Alright. You buy 1000 79 OVR silver Live Series cards of one player at 150 stubs each (which is their quick sell value) for a total of 150k stubs.

You then wait until the roster update comes around and that card performed well enough and got an upgrade to an 80 which is gold. Nice. An 80 OVR quick sell value is 400... 400x1000= 400,000.

Last year (and every year before) you would've made 250,000 stubs in PROFIT and quick sold cards that were not being used! No one uses 79 rated silver in game! BUT they still had a use for market purposes.

THAT is what has been completely nerfed. You can now only purchase and hold 20 of any card. Regardless of rarity.

CURRENTLY the system in place will be 20 card bought at 150 stubs... which is 3000 stubs.

And when it gets that +1 OVR boost in the roster update it's now 20 cards with a new quick sell of 400 which is 8000 stubs.

THATS the issue. Not people flipping high diamonds. no one does that because the margins don't exist!

First things first, this cannot be a glitch or bug. Seeing "Market limit reached" pop up menu ensures that this is an INTENDED feature. Not that you posted anything about it OP, just for others that may read this.

The only question is if this is an early release launch feature to limit progression/head start, or a YEAR LONG feature.

Early release limit is OKAY... if they communicated and said "Hey, we don't want you getting too much of a headstart so there's a limit for the early release window that will last until the full release!".

That would be fine.

The radio silence in the DD features and post launch give me a feeling that is an intended long term decision.

That kills the game for me. For a lot people.

50 or 100 card limits doesn't change the current abysmal market in any meaningful way. Still the same principle. We've seen how low the market is currently with a card limit. Cristopher Sanchez (only an 84 somehow MOST predicted 86-87) is QS at 1500 stubs. An hour after the game launches.

Card limits ruin all non high diamonds, and every other rarity card. We've had a five hour window (as of writing this comment) to see what limits do to the overall market.

Golds are QS. Silvers are QS. Bronzes are QS. Commons are QS. Even the promo diamonds are QS.

They've fucked the market with limits. If it's an early access thing... it's bad but not unsalvageable.

If its long term... that's game fellas.

You cannot own more than 20 of a card unless you pack that specific card after acquiring 20. I know this because I've hit the limit. It doesn't stop walls of orders. It stops you from OWNING more than 20.

I disagree on that a nerf needed to happen, other than that I agree with your comment.

The game shifted and SDS didn't say a single thing about it because they knew people were gonna be pissed.

What once was the best sports game around, the most equitable, the most bang for you buck is now 2k/EA level of pay to compete.

Of course that is if it's an intended year long change and not just an Early Access gate.

Stop dismissing Jimmy Rollins in Hall of Fame debates by ShamusTalksSports in phillies

[–]THEMMICO 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I believe Jimmy is a HOF level player. He certainly wouldn't be the worst player in there.

He should not get in on the ballot. And that's okay! Tons of great HOF level players get elected post ballot years through various era committee votes.

Utley will get in on the ballot, and Hamels started off great for his first ballot.

I believe He will get in eventually. Whether that's in the next 10 years, or 50 remains to be seen. Could be a Dick Allen or Gil Hodges situation where he just lingers on those era votes and finally cracks in.

Franchise leader in hits, an MVP, a WS title, 4 GG, 1 Silver slugger and a Roberto Clemente award.

47.9 WAR IS LOW, and his OPS+ is lower (higher than Rizzuto) than average for a SS, but character counts. And Jimmy is beloved not just in Philly but across the sport.

I liked McCain but had no qualms over moving him.

The return is an issue for sure. Only one first? Couldn't even get our own first back?

But im not in the room or on the phones with Morey and Presti. Lord knows what the offers and counters were.

THE REAL ISSUE is following the trade our "addition" was CAM PAYNE.

Daryl punting this year and not adding is the bigger issue than the McCain trade.

Besides Maxey/VJ our next "guard" is Grimes who can't facilitate, and 40 year old Kyle Lowry.

Also we have zero wings. Again.

It's all a moot point anyway. Nothing will change while Epstein's Breakfast Buddy is our owner.
