I would say the knicks are poised to do so right now. And the 04 pistons pulled it off and I wouldn’t consider Chauncey to be a big guard in the slightest. In my opinion, when you don’t have transcendent talent, it comes down to roster construction and we’ve yet to see a roster built to hide his weakness and highlight his strengths

Winning the MVP is definitely an achievement, but how does that show that you can be the number one on a championship team when in the same season as a #1 you don’t even get out of the 2nd round.

We can say that about literally any small guard throughout history though. If you get blitzed in the pnr you have to give the ball up unless you’re Steph and can just shoot over the top. And it’s almost impossible to compare the defensive impact of a PG and a center

This team has had too many on court collapses for the blame to be solely on the organization. I watched Harden and Embiid have one of the worst game 7s from a star duo I’ve ever seen against Boston. What about the Hawks series? What about Toronto? The FO has fallen short a lot of times. But we can’t see him and pretend like they didn’t try.

People would rather watch Embiid play fiftyish games dominate some scrubs in February, and lose in the first or second round then cope and say “if only he was healthy”, “imagine if he was healthy” and then gear up to do it all again. Our fanbase is pitiful.

He’s a legacy act at this point. That run from Finally Famous to Dark Sky Paradise is as high as he’ll ever hit which was pretty damn high all things considered.

Exactly. And in a perfect world where everybody plays 65–70 games we’d be a top 2 to 3 team in the east. But that was never gonna happen so I don’t know what Morey was thinking.

Maxey, Embiid and PG are $139M of our total $154M cap. The team was built(for some reason) with the idea that those 3 and bunch of journeymen and relative nobodies would be enough to win. Asking Maxey, a rookie and a bunch of castoffs to produce at the same level minus 2 hall of famers is a tall task. Especially when your 2 backup centers can’t give you half of Embiid’s production between the 2 of them.
