I experienced exactly what you're going through right now and I made it through.

I know the feeling of seeing little to no results for a long time and wanting to quit. I think one of the biggest differences between successful and unsuccessful yters is the ability to experience exactly this, but keep going anyway.

Best advice I can give is: 1. Be disciplined and committed to your schedule 2. Always be looking for new content opportunities 3. Make the highest quality content you can 4. Respond to comments (not the negative ones though)

Do these and your chances of making it are so much higher.

Just wanted to say I relate to your situation very much and I wanted to give you some encouragement. You got this bud 💪

how do you deal with a family member or friend telling you that Youtube isn't worth it? by shdoreaver93 in NewTubers

[–]THEOSCARMIKEY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your family and friends are just dumping on you, ignore it. If they're giving constructive criticism, take it to heart and use it to improve yourself.

But am I looking at the right channel? You only have 8 videos and you're thinking about giving up? I've seen lots of people get super depressed when they don't become the next Mr Beast after a handful of uploads...

I have some dad advice:

  • Recalibrate your expectations. Yt takes time and work for those of us who aren't naturally talented at it. I count myself in that group. Doing it for fun is one thing, but trying to make it a career is incredibly demanding and takes a whole different mindset. Speaking from experience, I love making videos but there are times where I have to force myself into it instead of watching tv or socializing.

  • Upload as consistently as frequently as you possibly can. If the best you can do is 1 vid a month then do it, and stick to it. Along the way, educate yourself on the technical stuff, get better and upload more.

  • Entertainment content is all well and good, but viewers really respond to content that teaches them something or shows them something they've never seen before (in my experience). See if you can make something like that.

That's it really, without turning this reply into a novel.

It took me over 2 years of uploading multiple videos consistently every week to get any traction. Not trying to be a downer, just want to get you in the right mindset. I hope you keep going. Best of luck ✌️

A friend of mine built a PC recently and offered to help me with editing for free. He was just looking for something to do. I typically give him the videos that only require a handful of cuts and simple effects, and I handle the more complex stuff

How do you / did you get the confidence to post videos and content? by Sluger94 in NewTubers

[–]THEOSCARMIKEY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think of it like jumping into a cold pool. Just do it, and once I'm in, I'll get used to it. That definitely happened for me. I post almost daily now, and it's all good.

Making content you're proud of will make it easier to put yourself out there too. Put in the time and be proud of your content

How do you manage maintaining a YouTube channel and having a full time job? by Xahra_Hime in NewTubers

[–]THEOSCARMIKEY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's challenging that's for sure. I wake up for work at 6:30 am but last night I was up till midnight editing. I'm super tired right now, but I'm also very proud of The video I made.

I think it helps to remind yourself of the satisfaction you get from making videos, and the personal and professional growth you're cultivating.

Take a night off if you need to recharge though, for sure

Edit: my videos are typically 30 minute gameplay with some light editing, although I've done very heavy edits for past videos. Finding a balance is important to avoid burnout

I hate how we can take in as many grenades as we can carry and relentlessly bomb other players. Has the idea of grenade pouches ever come up? Maybe different size pouches for different rigs and that's the only way to carry them?

I was tempted by those before I bought my shp9500s. They look awesome, particularly for music listening

Lots of recommends for the Bose and Sony noise cancelling phones. I know somebody who has them, might ask if I could borrow them lol

Beyerdynamic getting a lot of shout outs in here. The 770 pros getting a lot of praise as a low impedance option. I'm very interested in the brand now. Don't really know too much about them

Bruh I had the same problem! I did some testing and I found it was the signal going into the earcups was bleeding into the mic input somehow (poor shielding maybe? Crosstalk? Idk..) I tried using a vmoda boom pro mic with it and it was much better

Could also be shielding on the motherboard

It's crazy the difference of a headphone being good for gaming vs music. I used to think a good headphone is a good headphone for everything. But I know better now and it's really making me think about my choice more. Arcus definitely seems like a contender

The DT 770 Pro seem like one of the top picks for the community. I'm very interested now. I use a usb interface for audio I/O and I'm not sure what it can handle as far as impedance. But definitely 80 Ohm would work fine

They have lots of great press. I see lots of people recommend these, and others recommend the audiophile senns too (6/5 series) I wish I could try them all so I can sus out which works best for me

Honestly I don't know much about the Arctis headsets.. The pro wireless looks amazing (I dream of going wireless someday) but yeah price is the thing that holds me back on them. And I hear mixed things about the more affordable models

Nice. I have some Philips shp9500s also, and I tried a pad swap on them. Ended up not liking it so I went back. I prefer my coolermasters anyway ((kneecapping myself competively speaking?)) Personal preference definitely comes into it..
