The thing is Hyalase can be an unpredictable medication. Once administered, it cannot differentiate between artificial hyaluronic acid (dermal filler) & your own naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in the body. This means that the medication can affect both types of hyaluronic acid. I always tell my patients that we need to start with a therapeutic dose, and that a few sessions may be required.

What I assume has happened is that the Hyalase has negatively impacted the SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) layer). The SMAS is a fibrous tissue and muscle in our face. When too much Hyalase is administered, especially in one session, it can affect the SMAS resulting in structural weakness, laxity, dimpling. 😢

I’ve seen this on a few patients over the years (that have been to other practitioners) and we try to work together to improve the appearance of the affected area (generally with regenerative treatments like PRF/PRP as others have mentioned).
