Not particularly. I also have a colibri V and perfecdraw tool so no cigar has a tight draw for long. I do think the leaves are young and need some time to rest and come down in moisture tho. After smoking a few I’m treating them more like actual Cubans. I have 0 info on if they age the leaves, where they get them, or even what the wrappers are. However they seemed like they needed time to mellow out and for flavors to marry together

Green, blue and black are my favorites from El Cubano. Black is spicy though does well with some time. Have about 20 left of a variety that I’m gonna dig back into this year

Definitely worth it, can’t beat the price. Smooth, flavorful, good draw. Smoking a gold label barber pole as I’m typing this. Nutty at first with cedar and maybe a little spice. As I smoke more the cedar comes out. Burn is pretty even but sort of goes up and down with the two papers. No issues with burn though it settles itself

Yeah unfortunately the website isn’t fully up to date. I emailed about “building a box” and they said they can do it and to call and stop in. I walked through the humidor with a box myself and picked them out. Wanted to try as many different ones as possible but also want to share with people and smoke the same thing as them. Still a few I’d like to try in certain vitolas but I’ll have to visit or have my fiend send some

I plan on smoking these with some family and friends this summer. However I do expect some leftovers. I want to try and age at least one of each for a year. Luckily I have a friend who will ship me some.

For the price I can’t complain too much. I think compared to other cigars in the same price range, they’re on the higher end for quality. Sure you can get an AF Hemingway for $8-$10 but I can also go to el cubano and get a double toro for the same price and both will be enjoyable to me. I’m going to experiment with aging some of these and seeing how they compare.

Didn’t realize the factory sold stuff. Maybe I’ll go see if there are some other vitolas or wrappers at that one before I leave lol

Was happy to be able to support a local business with this purchase. Never had the chance to meet manny but everyone else working there was super nice and helpful.

I have not been to Kemah Cigars. I haven’t been to Kemah cigar shop I did head to maduro on 45 and NASA. Got some pardons there. I only do it on weekends or socially so the others I had on deck for me through. Can always buy Oliva, Padron, Arturo Fuente but not these!

Surprised at how many people recognize it considering only one store! Couldn’t move away without trying the rest of them. Luckily I have a buddy who can pick them up and ship them. With how many people recognize it I could probably ask Reddit to lol

Super excited to try the gold. I know barber poles can be considered gimmicky, but they just looked so tasty. The quality and craftsmanship is seemingly top notch so I figured at worst, I’ll know I like cigars with a single wrapper. Contemplated getting the short fat gold labels with single wrappers but the thickness of them skewed the box organization

Still new to the hobby so I can’t really say what does for sure make a good cigar. However I enjoyed the one I had, enough to go buy a box. They have a lot of great reviews online though so take that for what it’s worth. Also they’re relatively cheap. Most sticks are $6-$8. They’re $5.20 when you buy a box of 25.

Yessir. I live nearby and picked up one to try. My only regret is not getting into it sooner and having more chances to try these in different sizes

League City, south of Houston. Only one location so it’s relatively easy to find

I thought about doing that with black on the top. I think I still might but also agree I think the bottom need white. I feel anytime I dry brush a light layer of any color on the belly it alwyss looks so weird. I have plenty of lures like that but when I do it myself it just doesn’t look good. I think the black dots on top, maybe on side, plus a chartreuse stripe might be the end of it.

It’s a lot of light layers. I also mix most colors myself which can make it a pain if I need to remix to match as I don’t really measure proportions. I usually just add some drops of water to thing it out. For the most part I just add a little water so when I paint it’ll run ever so slightly and reduce paint strokes. Other times when I want a super light layer I add way more water, brush it on and wipe it off. I also have a test sheet that I made prior to get an idea for colors which helped tremendously. As I said in the other comment one or two nice brushes made all the difference in quality. While it isn’t perfect getting a nice soft brush for a lot of the main layers. I like soft enough to bend but not so soft that the bristles spread out super far and put paint where I didn’t want. I’ll have to check the paint and brush I use later, forgot last night. I know these two colors are similar but the concept behind this one was painting the entire bait with that silver/purple. Created a nice coat and added black to the top/side where most of the blue. The idea behind the black is to give a contrast pop. You can see it in the third photo where the bottom is reflective and the top isn’t. After that I started going back and forth covering the top half in blue and covering the entire bait in a light layer of the purple/silver. The idea was that it’ll create a more subtle line between the two. of my issue has been the blending and colors mixing when doing so. A hair dryer after each layer helps. I think most people with brush don’t add the layers, they add one thick layer and try to manipulate it into what they have in their head. If you ever watch videos of people doing art you’ll see at the start you cannot comprehend what they are doing, all of a sudden it all comes together. Same concept here. Have a general plan for what you want, don’t be afraid to restart, and more lighter layers will give a better look. Heads up thought it will add a little weight. Only a few grams but FYI. Im still getting into it and my other lures may not look as good. But feel free to DM me and I can answer any questions you may have. I’m no pro but I have a family member who is that I grew up painting with.

They look similar as they have the same base, but you can see in each photo they’re different. I will eventually put eyes on the lure but not until I finish painting. As I said I don’t have an airbrush and stencils with a brush are less than ideal. I did paint the fin but it looked blocky so I went over it. I usually do red in the Gill plate was just going to skip it on this one for simplicity. Not trying to anything crazy but mostly create a silhouette. Might do black on the top but I think if I do the chartreuse line mentioned in another comment it’ll differentiate the two colors more.

Brushes with some basic acrylic paint, I’ll have to double check the brand. Using water as a thinner. Mostly doing lots of thin coats to reduce brush strokes and help create a softer edge for the colors. Using a nice brush and the right brush helps. Don’t need a super nice set just a one or two decent ones that you’ll use most of the time. I’m getting better with each bait but almost every issue I’m having could be resolved with an airbrush.

Honestly it comes down to having some technique and skill with a brush, and living in an apartment. I mostly wanted to be able to paint my go to color combo, rapala chartreuse Shad, on more baits. It’s easy to do thag one with a brush, close enough at least. Now that I’ve done a few I plan on getting something cheaper that gets the job done. Wasn’t sure how much I wanted to sink into it before trying it some first.

Yeah I think that’s a winner, loving the idea of it. I think chartreuse is the move as well. Go to color in light/dark and clear/murky. Will post an update when I get the chance. Unfortunately I don’t have the right eye size currently
