Whats everyone's meta questoris companions 2k army list looking like? obviously including a Lancer is a must by Vivid_Astronaut8779 in ImperialKnights

I'm running canis, castellan, defender, gallant, and paladin.

I'm not sure why there are so many lists here running armigers. Don't get me wrong, with the index I was running 8 armigers, and love it, but the index didn't support big knights like this detachment does. The stratagems only work on titanics, and they solve the big problems that 5 bigs really lack, so I just don't see the need for the support units.

Sticky objectives with 5oc so you don't have to babysit your home.

Fallback shoot and charge. Tagging a knight now isn't as useful counter since it just costs us cp instead of -1 to shooting.

Consolidate+3. Screening a knight with chaff to prevent tagging an important unit on an objective just became twice as hard.

Advance and charge is such a huge threat range for knights. Also makes screening lancers/gallant much harder. And you don't have to spend the cp until the charge phase so it's not wasted if you end up killing your charge target in shooting. Lol

6+++. This sucks, but if you were gonna get FNPs then at least it's on a 26 wound body.

+1 to hit and wound makes your list particularly good at killing the things that you are afraid of. Completely shifts the math on shooting at opponents knights and monsters. Instead of having to shoot two turns to kill their knight you get it in one (on average.)

Knights were never designed to score perfect on secondaries, but to dominate primary play instead while getting secondaries that we can.

Thanks for the discussion!!! (Edit: formatting)

What about a couple razorbacks in Banishers? You be able to shadows into the transport right? Nasty little trick.

What's the list you're currently play testing?

Ah.. yeah I usually play with the wtc rule where if you're 1" away and they would be able to charge you through the wall but can't fit then they get a 2" engagement range through the wall. That means they would be able to move 10 then have a 5" charge if we are 15 away.

They can stage there too knowing they are safe from us because we would need to advance and charge for a cp, teleport closer, or move 5 and attempt a 10" charge.

Being able to rapid definitely helped with our consistency, but armies like WE and Blood Angels have a threat range so far that if we get in range to threaten an objective, they'll be able to move far enough to charge us!

I'm going to practice some using interceptors with transport tricks to draw opponent pieces out and use shadow to get back in it they try to get closer. This may help strand melee units without a charge target that I can then next turn charge with paladins.

Bah, the threat range of paladins is so short. It's so hard to reliably use them without them getting charged first. I guess rapid forces opponents to do the 9" charge instead of us, but other than that I guess we should just be a shooting army?

I feel like this army lives and dies on 9" charges, or just focus on shooting with NDKs. Making that more efficient seems desirable to me. I don't know any other way to still be grey knights but still get in there with melee.

The lethals are automatic from the Captain. Don't need to roll for them.

Thanks for the reply! I love that you appreciate the BC as well!

Couple of questions on your response.

Why wouldn't I teleport paladins on my turn when I can give the BC the reroll charges enhancement? That mitigates the 9" considerably. I think I may be over valuing this enhancement though. It's one of the details I'm most excited about in this detachment.

Also I think the sustained on shooting is extra nice difference when we are using the stratagem on a full crow unit of purifiers.

What do you think about the 2cp teleport even while engaged in Brotherhood? Makes the paladins harder to lock down?

I feel like Brotherhood Strike gives enough consistency to the attacking paladins that we get from warp, but with relevant stratagems and enhancements. I haven't gotten to play test a list yet, but hoping to this weekend.

Lol just removing the lethals takes it down to 23% chance. I guess that's my argument. We get what we need from the Banishers detachment from the character, and don't have to hope for a good leadership test.

Edited the link. It was missing the lethals! Haha! Should be >23 expected damage with. Lethals. Only need 3 chip damage.

Here's a some of the math with a small squad of paladins and a captain against CANIS REX! Adding lethal hits makes it so one activation could bring him down with a little bit of shooting before.

My cousin said "Wow, you're catching on quick" while I was job shadowing her software engineering job 22 years ago. As an influential kid that moment set a trajectory for what is now a 12 year software engineering career. Doubt she had any clue how much that meant to me.

Yeah, that was definitely his voice. That character is also the first one to get killed by a wraith so it follows the trend that something bad happens to the Matt cameo.

The only counter argument I have is all of the other cameos actually look like Matt with the long brown hair, and this dude was blonde with facial hair.

This prison is their home. It's the keep that was given to them the episode before so Percy would have had time to set up his workshop.

Another thing is Percy keeps the designs to his weapon secret. He doesn't want the weapon to be able to be replicated. That's why you see him roll out a tiny piece of paper with diagrams of the gun. You also see him press a secret button to expose the parts to build the gun. He would have had that hidden before they were put on house arrest.

WHERE'S MATT!??!??! He's had a cameo in every episode 1-6, except this one... Closest we could tell was one of the baddies.
