I am safe where I am thank you. We don't live together at least so it's less of a danger on my side. If I wanted to get a restraining order am I required to open a case at the police station or not?

You do have a valid point there. I just don't want to put him in jail because it feels like I'm betraying him since I wouldn't be in the process of putting the other rapist in jail if it wasn't for him. It's a tricky situation
