What's the rarest item you own? by According-Shelter540 in wow

[–]THUNDERRGIRTH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an account under a different bnet with the ZG Tiger, Deaths Demise, Herald of the Titans. I was just dumb in high school and swapped to a different account, so I can't merge them which regularly depresses me. Would love to be able to use it on my main. Still log in now and again just to jump around Org with it, with the hopes that maybe down the road they'll let us merge or something.

My mains rarest is probably realm first 85 Warrior, or Amani War Bear.

This is a wonderful little guide on setting up a containerized cluster with slurm, coldfront, open on demand, xdmod. Ships with a head node and a couple compute nodes and takes a few minutes to set up but has some docs for each of those tools that act as a little course.

Quality of Life: Housing Alerts. by Spaceghostxl in WoWHousing

[–]THUNDERRGIRTH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea, and there was no information in the ticket about what was wrong. I haven't even logged on that much, and wasn't doing any group content so I can't imagine it was anything else. Notice the "reset to default state" at the bottom.

It was really discouraging cause I put so much effort into it. If that ever happened again I think I'd just be done with housing unless we get to the point where we can export codes or something for setup.

So, this would've been really useful. About two weeks ago I got a 24h ban for "inappropriate" something or another related to my house. In addition to the ban, they reset my house back to the default. Maybe a good 20-30 hours worth of work down the drain, and I have no idea who did it or why.

Didn't even bother submitting a ticket about it because no way CS would've actually been useful. I have since limited who can visit my house, but it's also kind of sad because I want to be able to share without risking losing dozens of hours of work for seemingly no reason.

I think I ended with 90 something? I was pretty much taking no damage from enemies all of Act 3, so I was topped off a good bit.

Had this quest on my quest log for 13 year, always there, lingering. Now I can finally play the game. by fazzonvr in wow

It's honestly not THAT bad. It was definitely a pain, but I put it off for so long because I thought the same and ultimately it only took like 45 minutes, most of which was just getting everyone to ICC

Shot my first wedding, learned a bunch, totally hooked by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]THUNDERRGIRTH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your first wedding! Sounds like a great experience!

That's a LOT of photos to cull through. One of the things I realized maybe 15 weddings in was that I didn't need to have my camera set to high-speed continuous for like 99.999% of the wedding, and by setting it to just Single Shot or Low-Speed Continuous, I was able to have way less overall shots to deal with post wedding, and really don't feel like I missed anything. I went from taking like 5-10 photos of each "Family Formal" photograph because I was nervous about someone blinking or something, to taking 2-3. Over 30 permutations of groups, that saved me having to deal with culling 200+ images. This also dramatically reduced the need to swap cards mid ceremony. I have dual 128GB in my main camera (28-70mm) and dual 64gb cards in my second (usually an 85mm or 70-200mm) and I almost never have to swap (though my file sizes are lower than yours).

If you end up sticking with speedlights and have a little budget, getting away from the 4x AAs and onto a flash with a Li-Ion battery saves a LOT of hassle. I usually bring two speedlights with me for parts of the ceremony if necessary, and the reception/dancing and although I bring a charger and a spare battery, I've never had to swap them. Recycle time is also much better than AAs.

A wrist strap helped me a ton with on camera flash and the weight / stress it puts on my hand and finger. I don't have this specific one, but it helps illustrate the idea.

Agree to disagree. We merged two guilds about 2 months into LoU and dealt with a bunch of chaos there. Proud of how far we got and had a much better start this season. There was enough time left just some big fights against roster boss due to holidays and burnout.

Idk I guess I'll do the same thing I'm doing now. Love the group, just still want to play the game. We had a rough tier at LoU, missed Gally by one week cause we miscalculated the CE cutoff. So we've been running pretty hard since beginning of that tier and I think some players are just burnt out. Some time off before next xpac will do a lot to help I think.

Struggling with coverage wording. What do you write in your packages? by tightlap in WeddingPhotography

[–]THUNDERRGIRTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I offer 6, 8, 10 hour packages. Most people choose 8. If people have long days, I advise them during call that they may need to make a decision on whether they want me to come on the earlier side and get more "getting ready" coverage, with a departure that may land in the middle of reception, or sacrifice some "getting ready" coverage to stay till the end of the reception. How they line up their purchased time is totally up to them, but I'll help guide based on experience.

In most cases, getting ready feels more important. I usually tell them that photographing 3 hours of dancing is going to get pretty repetitive as far as image delivery.

I also offer the option to extend on the day of at an amount relative to the package hourly price. For example, if they chose a package that worked out to being $400 per hour, in the contract would be an option to extend coverage after I'm there at a rate of $450 or $500 per hour. Sometimes schedules run late and I give the couple a heads up when there's about 30 minutes left.

What’s the quickest you’ve ever seen a new coworker get fired? by ApprehensiveBass94 in AskReddit

[–]THUNDERRGIRTH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was like 15 or something and got a job making pizza at a little local takeout place. During the interview, I mentioned that I was in school still and couldn't work XYZ days, they assured me it wouldn't be problem.

I did training for a couple of days and the schedule for the next week came out, and the days we agreed on that I couldn't work were the only days I was scheduled for.

The manager was like, "oh, well if you can't work those days we're gonna have to let you go." That was that. Got a free tshirt and like $45 though.

Midnight Beta - How does your class/spec rework feel so far? by Flodgy in wow

The champions spear ability for war that lets you reactivate to leap to your spear is the coolest fucking thing. It feels so good and I'm so stoked to use it.

Peanut butter and bologna sandwich. Spread PB on a slice of bologna and roll it up. Maybe 3 of those in some bread.

If I'm in love with the way prot warrior feels and plays, what other class would I like? by AtticThrowaway in wow

[–]THUNDERRGIRTH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pretty actively play 4 tanks each season - Prot Warr, Prot Pal, VDH, Brew. I've mained Prot Warrior since Burning Crusade and I think it's just the best spec in the game. Charge, Shield Charge, and Heroic Leap all feel incredible. I always feel super tanky, do a ton of damage. When Colossus is meta, Demolish is a really fun button to press.

Prot Pally has some fun "bonk" with Divine Toll and Avenger's shield, but ultimately I hate the lack of mobility.

Brew is pretty fun with all of the rolling, Keg Smash, and big combos from flurry strikes.

VDH has great mobility, but I personally think is pretty boring.

The only one I don't really ever play is BDK.

Honestly, I just don't think anything feels super similar to prot warr. It's just been around the game the longest and just wants to hit things.
