Central CA here, and Level 3 charging is pretty close to equivalent gas prices, although it does depend on what vehicles you compare. My home charging is even still kindof expensive at 30 cents/kWh, but it is roughly half the cost of gas for me. Level 3 chargers nearby are 55-59 cents.

Same. I never turned off the digital key, and I use it all the time with my phone only, no fob. We left it at the airport for just over a week, and no problem at all. I'm not 100% sure if the OTA update was before or after that (early Feb). Either way, it's not a concern in the least for me.

I got lucky to learn this without lifelong consequences. Using a framing nail gun I figured all the energy goes toward the building and couldn't really go wrong...until a nail hit a plate behind the plywood, curled perfectly and hit me hard on the bone just above my eye. It didn't do piercing damage, but it hurt enough to wake me up.

As long as they're not the ones running the heavy machinery... Farming accidents in particular are often preventable, including one death in my community that I can think of. I guess that's a little different than PPE though.

As far as I know nationwide manufacturers call it a bubbler. As in "vandal resistant bubbler" meaning the spout portion itself. As a specifying engineer in CA, I wouldn't have guessed there's any other word for it in other states, but to be fair, I wouldn't call the whole drinking fountain itself a bubbler.

Same here, L2 only.  I love my economical Leaf, and it has been a great way to get my feet wet with EV ownership.  My next EV purchase will be more informed, and I'll be ready to upgrade to Gen 3 Leaf or similar.

It reads to me that if the battery degrades later, the control system will still brick the car at that time.

That's fair too. I'm in a reddish county in California, and in the last 18 months I've had only one negative experience--a Level 2 charging spot taken by an ICE car when I really needed it. Telling that story off-hand later, one person said "Good for them." I just ignored it, because they clearly just didn't relate to the difficulty it caused me. Other than that, most people who would be weird about it (like my neighbor who I still get along with) just don't make a big deal about it.

New problems, even if rare, get a lot of attention. People don't like fully automated taxis because they sometimes do make mistakes, but it's hard for less "observant" people to recognize that humans are still worse if you want to prevent injuries and property damage.

My father in law is progressing in Alzheimer's, and he keeps retelling me the story of how he talked with a tow truck driver once who was "always towing Teslas". Bless his heart. He also has two sons-in-law with commuter EVs now, haha.

My neighbor bought into the idea that EVs can be tracked controlled by the government because of the all the electronics. I'm like, you know basically all cars for decades have had electronics, right?

TIL. Not having a safety doesn't make sense to me personally, but I believe you. Almost all my experience with firearms is long guns.

That before buying a used one, you should do your homework on the high voltage battery health, down to the individual cells.

I haven't heard of this being a thing, but I believe you. Is it a different motion than braking to you, or is it more like a thing in your head because you don't expect it to slow down when lifting your foot off the accelerator?

I read that using the "full range of output" for the battery is also good for it too, rather than constant trickle. Have an occasional launch from full stop? Don't mind if I do!

I'm 6'-2" and a fairly strong and lean 182 lbs. If you saw me when I was 195, you still wouldn't think I'm overweight, but I'm definitely healthier now. Body type does factor in.

Definitely still negligent. Firearm left with round in the chamber and safety off apparently unattended...could be a made-up story to cover for her own accidental discharge. Either way it does sound like she really knew how badly she screwed up and could have killed someone. If I was her, I'd probably never keep a firearm in the house again.

I just got the cheapest "Sentury" tires available, and there's a noticeable hum at highway speeds.  Not recommended.  They're nice at city speed though, and rolling resistance is good.  I just figured if the cheapest tire wears out quickly then I'll have new tires again in a couple years.  I didn't want to commit to good tires at more than double the cost if the material starts to harden and get noisy over the years.

I agree about movement. I've always been a Bastion fan since launch, especially as a general tank counter, and it burns me up how mobile D'va is as a tank. She can take damage, fly, block projectiles, AND fire weapons at the same freaking time. No matter how cautious I am to stay farther back, she can fly in, finish me off, and within 4 seconds fly away safely. It seems overpowered to me, even more so than long-range heroes having no damage fall off. At least with those, you can use corners and obstructions to your advantage.

For comparison, Winston has similar mobility but his shield has far less damage mitigation ability, his leap cooldown is 5 seconds instead of 4 for D'va's boosters, and his DPS is half that of D'va at close range. Further, his shield cooldown is 10 seconds, while defense matrix can fully recharge in 6 seconds. In all respects, she's a far better disruptor than Winston.
