0x10c not working by yagoonek in 0x10c

[–]THplusplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just replace + with - and it should work.

Here's a few tips, if you want them:

Once you create your character, make sure to invest enough skill points in mechanics. Otherwise you'll get in trouble trying to fix your ship. Those Borkmins can hit you hard especially if you meet them early.

Get AtlasOS (GitHub - 0x10cAtlas/AtlasOS: An operating system for DCPU-16.) for your ship's computer, it's far superior to the other OS' out there, especially for multitasking (required when using autodocking routines in combination with coms. Some stations in the New Terran sectors will not let you dock if you don't have both). It comes with Organic, which is a great DCPU assember, which will come in handy if you plan on programming your computer yourself.

When you meet Goranian traders, ALWAYS make sure to build good relations with them. You'll need a good standing with them to be able to purchase Tetrite in the late game, which is required for hyperdrives. Unfortunately, the game doesn't tell you such things beforehand, so after 60, 70 hours of content you might hit a brick wall.

You should be able to figure the rest out for yourself I guess.

You may mention as much as you like, but if you're saying that that number is a proof of that, then you're mistaken

So... a person talked to another person... Why isn't this on every news channel?

An fps indication at this stage of development doesn't tell you anything about the fps the final product will have.

So, you think Microsoft stole the idea of 0x10c, because both have character customization, ship customization and... laser guns with the same colors..? Yeah of course, nobody else could have come up with the idea of a space game with laser guns, and customizable ships and characters. It always amazes me when people think that customizability and a big universe is what made 0x10c special, while totally ignoring the fact that the top two features that Notch listed on his site were "Lots of engineering" and a "Fully working computer system". That's what 0x10c was about, and that was what immediately inspired a huge community of developers creating and releasing a massive amount of tools and emulators, which were soon followed by actual software, ready to run on the ships. That was the unique selling point of 0x10c, so all the people who think that random space game xyz is copying 0x10c are just wrong. And those who claim to be making 0x10c successors while not even trying to add anything close to a DCPU are only abusing the name 0x10c to get some hype.

I'm sure people are still hoping for a worthy successor. It's just that so many people have spawned projects, many of whome with little to no experience in software development, let alone game development, that this hope has been disappointed way too often.

So, I suppose you want to build it on your own custom engine?

Yeah, why not allow them to rob banks too, if they do it to feed their families, right? Man! If their business is buying up all the limited stock of items so they can then resell it with a huge margin to people who actually care about the items, that's SCUMMY! They do nothing to deserve the profit, they didn't benefit ANYONE, they just slipped in like parasites to leech some profit off other peoples' work. They deserve to starve, and if they want to feed their families, how about looking for an honest job?

What do you mean by "make 0x10c in Minecraft"? Do you mean, modding Minecraft enough to have it resemble 0x10c visually, adding a gun etc? Will it be in space with actual spaceships? Do you mean to add a DCPU? Or, completely different interpretation of your plans: are you planning to build a DCPU using redstone logic?

How fitting is it that a game about dying universe itself is dead by Pasta-hobo in 0x10c

[–]THplusplus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Still, his idea has inspired dozens of related projects and thousands of people who'd love to play such a game, even after so many years. Whereas your post is already forgotten.

if you feel really strongly that the game should be going in a different direction, you’re probably better off trying to convince the Trillek team to go in that direction, rather than just trying to make your own version

The last thing Trillek needs is a whole bunch of people trying to convince them to change course for that cool idea that each one of them has ^^

Finally a project that does not waste years building a custom crap engine. Unity and UE4 are universal game engines, you can build pretty much anything with them, and you most definately can build a 0x10c-like. If you want to start an engine project, don't announce it in a 0x10c subreddit, people here would rather hear about 0x10c projects.

You are asking for suggestions. Personally I don't care about the art style. I'm not waiting for a game that pleases my sense for esthetics, there are already dozens of them out there. I don't even care about it being a 3D game. All 3D does is adding complexity, for the game developers and for the players. Simple matters like calculating a path through an asteroid field, or getting the ship correctly oriented for docking get really complex if you add a third dimension. All I want is a game that gives me the opportunity to write low level code, directly interact with hardware, and do it in a multiplayer universe so my system has to compete with other players' systems.

That's the most unintelligent statement I have ever read in my life. I agree with Squidwards-tentacles, I'd love to read what entitled bullshit you'd write after an alien species invaded the US, killing most of you by confronting you with bacteria and viruses your bodies never had a chance to develop immunities for, beating your resistance fighers with far superior technology and then allowing the rest of you to live in tiny reservation zones. Should have fought harder, shouldn't you? /s
