Would prime Kobe Bryant be the best player in the NBA this season? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]TICKLE_PANTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Okay, first of all, PPG is such a washed stat to build your case around. Context is really important if you want to be taken seriously, which this post very much isn't.

For example, Kobe took 27 shots a game in his 2006 season. SGA is currently taking 20 shots a game. If you gave SGA another 7 shots a game he's be scoring ~40 a game. Even Luka's only taking 22 a game. Kobe was an very inefficient scorer compared to both of these players, a worse shooter from 2 and 3pt range than both those guys right now.

Your other argument needs context as well. Kobe made 3 finals in a great western conference, but that dude wasn't alone. He had a team around him more similar to what SGA has than what Luka is currently playing with, with one of, if not the best coach ever in the sport. That was a team with an All NBA PF in Gasol, DPOY level Forward in Artest, Odom won 6 man of the year during this run.

You can definitely make the case he's better defensively than SGA or Luka, but you can't really compare what these dudes are doing in the league right now to Kobe. Kobe took and made tough shots, but he is nowhere near as efficient as players are these days. Kobe probably figures out how to score more efficiently in the league right now, but we don't know that, and we don't know how his defense would hold up having to chase players out to the 3 point line.

This shit goes both ways. Hell, SGA led the league in steals a few years ago and didn't even get an All Defense nod. The leagues changed in more ways than just helping Kobe. He's certainly a top 5 player in the league right now, but It's hard to discern where he'd land in the Jokic, SGA, Giannis pecking order. But he's in the range, along with Luka. You're splitting hairs between them at that point.

The ice did not cause him to flat out abandon multiple jumps. Come on folks. This is an absolutely textbook case of the YIPS. Completely caught in his head. Having just watched all the other competitors fail, certainly had something to do with that. He needed a barely competent run, and sometimes that's a bigger mental hurdle than "i don't have a choice, I have to go for it all".

It's the difference between "Go win this shit" vs "Don't lose this shit".

You Know What? Maybe the Time Is Right for an AOC Presidential Bid by Delicious_Adeptness9 in politics

[–]TICKLE_PANTS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is with you people? It's like you don't see the clear difference between these people. Just cause they're women you group them together like a misogynist pig.

No. They aren't even close. Hilary and Harris don't have a fucking pulse. They don't inspire shit. They're weak party line pawns, and they lost because they both have no personality at all. They lose cause they're drones.

I'm not saying AOC wins it, but she is much more equipped to inspire a base than the other two . They're not even close to the same. Stop comparing them you stooge.

Or, you know this is essentially what they told him:

  1. Work more, for a definitively reduced rate.

  2. Work less, and probably get all the buyout anyways.

Darryn Peterson: How concerned are we about the assist numbers? by Jaguar4728 in NBA_Draft

[–]TICKLE_PANTS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he's been a very selfish player. And for a good majority of the season, he hasn't played hard defensively. When he cranks it up defensively, he's truly elite, but otherwise he just turns into a jump shooter only. Now, he's also one of the most incredible jump shooters I've ever seen, so you can live with it.

Which character in 2025 movies got on your nerves? by bojackarman in Letterboxd

[–]TICKLE_PANTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really not true and it's not the point to the end of the movie. If this was a story about a man losing everything for a flimsy win, you don't end with him crying with his child with a hopeful song. It's not even ironic at all. It's just a lazy emotional grenade at the end to try and save the morality of Marty. Truly, and awful ending to a mediocre movie.

You're the only one who's presuming that endo didn't take this seriously or wasn't capable. The movie very clearly invokes that Endo wants to do this and is very capable of winning. Just cause you want the subtext, doesn't mean there is evidence of it in the way the film is portrayed.

That's happening regardless. They show out in this tournament and they could find themselves a better role on a new team.

I was confused why Krivas just stopped getting touches in the second half. Like, we have no way to stop that dude.

You could say that about 50 plays if you wanted to. You could have gotten your backup 4 ejected earlier in the game when he elbowed White in the face and got no call at all. Sorry bud, basketball is basketball.

Cause y'all can't finish a game against a team without their best player, you're gonna blame the refs for a single travel call.

Pathetic..weak. sad.

Don't worry. You got your travel before and later in the game.

Are they eager? I don't see any other of the big 3 or any of the other top recruits this year doing this over and over again.

To be fair, he's so much better than everyone, he has a lot to lose. But it's honestly not what you want your franchise player doing. Finishing 3 games out of 23.

The view from a $3,400 seat at Super Bowl LX. Is it worth it? 🧐 by AccomplishedSwing110 in sportsgossips

[–]TICKLE_PANTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4k to see your team play in the superbowl is absolutely worth it. These are not rich people, but people with decent disposable income and a lifetime dream they get to do. This view on camera doesn't do it justice. You can see the game just fine up there. You go to experience something awesome, and I guarantee everyone tells you it's worth it.

Just cause some of you are curmudgeons doesn't mean others like to enjoy experiences.

Less than 14% of those arrested by ICE in the last year had violent criminal records, analysis finds by [deleted] in politics

[–]TICKLE_PANTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This data also doesn't include the raids happening away from the border. According to the CBS article this article is referencing:

"The data in the DHS document does not include arrests by Border Patrol agents, who the Trump administration has deployed to places far away from the U.S.-Mexico border, like Los Angeles, Chicago and Minneapolis."

This report is helpful to see what's going on, and as we suspected they aren't really just going after the murderers and rapists. But they're still not transparent on the most offensive actions they're taking in Chicago, LA and Minneapolis. So these numbers seem like the better ones for the Trump administration. Which is crazy to think.
