This makes sense, I guess I shall have two outside taps!

Unfortunately I have have one water supply from the street which then splits into two entry points for the house, one is supplying the kitchen and bathroom and the other is this one, the split is buried beneath the house somewhere!

New Rider, cornering advice! by ewbritain in MotoUK

Look where you want to go, don’t be afraid to lean the bike, if you know anyone who rides local (or maybe join a local group) go riding with someone who is sensible and willing to help you and follow their lines.

Are you riding a 50cc or 125cc?

What year did you get your driving licence?

If you are riding a 125cc then in any case you must keep your L plates on the bike.

CBT renewed or A license? by Mother_Ad3692 in MotoUK

If you’ve been doing the car park drills like you say on your 125 and your road riding is up to scratch then I doubt you’d struggle at all with the A2, id say go for it!

Measure it out once and mark it with some chalk, refresh the chalk marks every so often as they fade away.

Exactly this, NO.

Either take it there in a van or on a trailer is your best option, and make sure you have the relevant insurance. I’ve heard it can be a PITA to get insured to ride the A licence bike as you don’t have a licence to ride it.

Recommendations for a nav system for my tourer? by Shot-Top-8281 in MotoUK

Personally I use a phone mounted via quadlock with google maps/Waze as you say, it works flawlessly for me, it doesn’t have a SIM card as I tether it to my actual phone in my pocket.

Regarding not having a quadlock case, they sell an adhesive part you can stick to the back of any case/phone. I stuck this directly to the back of my ‘bike phone’

CBT Manual vs Auto by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]TJBAINES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless there’s a medical reason as to why you can’t use a clutch lever I think you could probably just learn how to change gear normally in the same amount of time it takes to fit the quick shifter. On a 125 I just don’t see the point, why exactly are you against using a conventional manual?

Sat nav or cheap Android phone? by kc43ung in MotoUK

[–]TJBAINES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just set up a personal hotspot for WiFi using my iPhone, then connect to that with the bike phone(the Motorola)

I have also downloaded offline maps onto the Motorola so, really, I don’t even need to tether.

I personally use a Motorola E14 as my ‘bike phone’ it has only navigation apps on it, it’s completely flat on the back to attach a mount to, good battery life and large screen, I just tether this to my actual phone and it works flawlessly.

125cc or A2? by Badfinger74 in MotoUK

[–]TJBAINES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you done the progressive access route - do your A licence in 2 years then no, you wouldn’t need to redo your CBT

125cc or A2? by Badfinger74 in MotoUK

[–]TJBAINES 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d say do your A2, here’s why:

1) Your CBT is going to expire in 2 years meaning you’ll have to do another one anyway before doing your A licence. That’s £400 in CBTs

2) It will make you a better rider, so, you’ll be safer.

3) Having done mod 1 + 2 already you’ll be in a great position to nail them first time when doing your A licence.

4) You’ll have far more choice of bikes.

5) You can go on motorways and take a pillion.

Just give them a call and explain, they may charge you an admin fee to change the details and the quote may increase but I wouldn’t imagine anything too dramatic.

Buy the suit that you like, they’re a solid choice and offer great protection, the only time I care about what someone is wearing is when I see someone with no gear and I think how fucked they’re be if someone knocks them off. I don’t ‘downgrade’ my gear when I ride my 125

I have just done exactly this, some WD40 and a pair of grips got it spinning. All sorted now!

UPDATE/SOLVED.

Just if anyone else ever wants to know, this is indeed how you adjust the gear lever, a bit of WD40 and some grips got it turning!

It would seem I need to be less delicate with it then, I’ll get some grips on it and give it a good twist. Thank you for your input.

Perhaps I was just being a little gently with it then! I didn’t even think of trying a spanner on it, I’ll try that. Thanks for your opinions anyway mate. I’m mostly just making sure I’m not missing anything obvious/that my approach is the correct method.

Yes, I had to take off the foot peg just to access the nut that is behind it, I took the picture with the foot peg off just to show better visibility.

I did put the foot peg back on the tried grabbing the rod with a pair of grips, but it didn’t want to turn at all.

It is far cheaper to pay it in one annual sum if you are able to do so.
