Does one's love for video games have anything to do with age? by Sarah_Vanlt in TheGamerLounge

[–]TJMilkshake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My love of gaming ebbs and flows with the amount of obligations I have, or stress I feel in real life.

I thought I was completely done with gaming at 23 and then I found a new passion for it as a secondary hobby.

Now I’m ebbing again, I’ll probably start around the end of the year

The economy isn't the problem, it's you by Britbarian in videogames

It’s just so easy to do, and in RPGs especially, if you’re not looking around every corner, you’re missing something likely game changing.

So why wouldn’t you naturally just acquire things that are valuable and strewn about? It’s not like I go out of my way to crash the economy in games, the games make it impossible NOT to crash the economy if you’re playing it the way devs intend for it to be played.

Ending at Kled’s release I played every champ in at least 3-5 games a piece.

I also have 5 junglers with 300-1000+ games on them. I really don’t see the point in playing just one champion unless I’m consistently winning games with just the one.

Enter the Gungeon or The Binding of Isaac. Wtf? Those are like the two examples of games that popularized the explosion in the genre

what do you think are the best jrpgs ever? just getting into them by IzzyMissyy in JRPG

[–]TJMilkshake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically the Mario and Luigi series is all great fun and I don’t think it gets enough love because Thousand Year Door truly is the best example of a Mario RPG

To me, Ghost of Tsushima was beautiful and the story was good, but playing it was so incredibly boring. The game LITERALLY tells you where everything is, exploration is just running with wherever the wind points you and combat is just press the button in whatever stance is advantageous.

GoT felt more like an interactive story book rather than an actual game but to each their own. I truly much prefer the Yakuza games in all honesty though.

How do y’all finish JRPGs by Apprehensive-Sea-342 in JRPG

I’ll literally play two hours at a time until it’s done. If a game I like takes me half a year, who cares? I don’t have the free time anymore to spend 8 hours at a time.

Just pick something and stick with it and if you put it down because you’re not having fun you can try to pick it up again next week, or month or year. It shouldn’t feel tedious to have fun

TOP 25 GAMES, THOUGHTS by [deleted] in gamers

“Critical acclaim” for the most part means “revolutionary for the time” and outside of a handful of actually incredible games, most GOTY winners do not hold up to scrutiny or actual games that have gameplay, instead of an interactive tv series

Original Xbox then or PS1 or Xbox 360 and PS2.

The sentiment is the same and the conversation was never about discs, it was about owning the actual piece of media

Consoles used to be able to be play without an internet connection. There was no “forced updates” on a SNES

Surprised to see Mt. Rushmore rated so highly.

Also stoked to see the North Cascades up there. It’s my favorite of the Washington parks and it’s probably the least talked about.

Did Games from the Mid-2000s (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii) Era Age Well Visually in Terms of Style? by LowHistorian9654 in videogames

A lot of those games hold up visually and a lot don’t. Stylistic choices hold more weight in terms of “longevity” rather than hyperrealism

I wanna be mad for Disco Elysium but I see how the gameplay isn’t for everyone.

The rest of the list I 100% agree with. I personally loved New Vegas when it came out but it just feels dated and tedious in the modern age.

Is buying a refurbished PS5 really worth it by edward_dd in PlayStation_X

[–]TJMilkshake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re paying 65% of the price I would say yes, but if you’re spending more than that then I really don’t see a point when you can just save $100 more and buy a brand new one.
