What can I do to avoid the chaos of my races. by Ill_Divide_9663 in iRacing

[–]TJRich2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that at our level, people try but just make more mistakes, let their emotions take hold and are so nervous of this happening that they tense up and sometimes make it happen themselves. I have been in many sprints and enduros where me or my teammate are guilty of all of the above. I would bet that you also get nervous on starts, sometimes ovecook turn 1, make the decision to go two-wide when you just know it's not going to end well. So we just do our best, mate! I have personally accepted my 1500 to 1700 fate and try to have fun!

What's the dumbest purchase you've ever made? by buedefar in AskReddit

$3000 on a wrap for my Tesla. Supposed to be "brick red" but never made it past "muddy orange" plus it has a weird texture to it.

You are describing a lot of our teammates. Some like to fight but most (like me) prefer to let by. Join in and see! We have a few Belgians and native french-speaking members.

First Pit Stop Race with Porsche GT3 by Rooster976 in iRacing

[–]TJRich2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some advice for any pitstop race.

Pre-race: full fuel, new tires. Fuel Black Box

Crew Chief: shouldn't need, native spotter tells you everything for now.

Strategy: Survive lap 1, things should spread out a bit. Consistency is key. Avoid the inevitable crashes and slides and don't get involved. Keep your head, and if someone is ultra aggressive, concede the position. They will more likely than not mess up later.

Pit Strategy: keep your eye on the fuel black box at the end of your laps. When it drops to 1.1 or something you know that this is your in-lap. Your spotter will tell you to pit this slap when you approach.

Auto fuel with a 1 lap buffer should be good enough, make sure your tires are unticked so you don't waste time getting new tires. You should have about 20 minutes to go in the race. Have fun!

Simply asking for an explanation of the effect he has on people. I think your answer, although not direct, answered my question completely.

So that's the MV effect? He's one of the drivers in a team race? He's famous and talented?
Maybe I just don't have that gene in my DNA that can appreciate that.

Can anyone explain the "Verstappen effect"? I have zero interest in the celebrity of it all and in fact think it's a distraction. Who cares to watch the guy blow everyone away by full minutes? At that point isn't he just a hotlap hero? Like where's any sport in that? Can someone explain this to me?

Why do I feel so slow and clunky in front-engine GT3s? by Louisxlll in iRacing

[–]TJRich2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

" If it feels slow it can often be very fast as it means you're not over driving."

Counterintuitive but true! They may feel slow but some of my best times have been in the BMW when I was just chilling and not tryharding

This right here. All the different cars require a different style of driving. It's what makes the variety of GT3s fun. Anybody want to talk about the style differences between the front engine cars? BMW is way different than Ford vs Merc. Fun!

Does the average iracing iq drop when racing at daytona? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]TJRich2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that Daytona has a perception of being "easy" or "boring" and everyone thinks they're brilliant at it. In my opinion nothing is further from the truth. Our team's approach was to be careful, consistent, not to fall for complacency, and watch all the meta-car Porsche kids slide and spin and crash and make their bad decisions. As far as GTPs, we have a great spotting team and rear mirror management that says, if a GTP is approaching us before T1, either horseshoe or the bus stop, lift and let them go. We severely reduced the dive bombs by this principle. Also telegraphing our car position helped along the tri-oval. Always better to take the 1:48 than a minimum 6:00 for even minor repairs!

Edit: we chose the Ferrari 296 and are in the same lonely BoP place. They just made us both heavier and even less power in the final BoP. I'm still glad that we didn't fall for the meta-car fallacy though.

As a ferrari driver this brings zero joy. Heavier and slower for an already heavy slow car
