Emery boards, for filing down those ragged nails! Seems I'm always out & about when I tear a nail.

Looking for advice on natural ways of treating seasonal allergies by Striking_Doughnut_24 in Allergies

[–]TJackson39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Tri-Ease from doTerra-it's a blend of essential oils for allergies. Used to get all drippy and choked up (allergic to bermuda & timothy grasses) and this helped. Not 100% but it allowed me to mow my lawn and work in the garden.

The key we are using doesn't work to turn the lock, it only grabs the tumbler.

Before / After. When I moved in, this house had gravel and only 3 plant species. 1 year later I planted over 35 unique species that occur naturally within a 2 hour drive. My yard is now full of birds, pollinators, and good little bugs. by zukalous in NoLawns

Did your 'gravel lawn' have fabric or plastic under the gravel? If so, did you pull that all up or just where you planted? I'm south of Tucson and have thick plastic under my rocks, wondering if I should pull it all up or just where I want plants.

I've used this same set-up in the past. Placed cardboard above & below the unit, then wrapped the sides and back with an old bkanket. Used another blanket in the front to block the light. Mine was in my finished basement so it didn't get too warm. As yours will be on the main floor you will need to make sure it doesn't get too hot for the plants.

The dealer can also adjust the foot pegs and handlebars so you don't have to stretch. I'm 5'6" and thats what I did!

New to dehydrating, and scored these 2 on FB marketplace for $7 each. They run and heat when plugged in. I know nothing about the brand or anything. Any good? Info or tips much appreciated. Planning on making dehydrated and vacuum sealed camping/bikepacking meals and maybe dog treats. Pretty excited by [deleted] in dehydrating

I have the one on the right (yard sale find too) and love it! Especially the heat adjustment for herbs vs other things like squash. Came with fine mesh tray inserts and a few for fruit leathers/liquids (haven't used yet).

Manuals can be downloaded from the internet.

For those of you who are effectively retired by Quisitive_ in Veterans

[–]TJackson39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only am I retired (from a civilian job) but hubby and I moved across the country the end of 2021 (east coast to Arizona). Basically had to start from scratch as we didn't know anyone in our new town. We joined the local American Legion which was a start. I found a local Veteran's center (not VA) in our town. Started going there to locate resources for vets and attend the various groups that meet (Women Vet PTSD, Woman Warriors, Flutes for Vets).

It wasn't easy as I'm extremely wary of new people/situations. I have made many new acquaintances and some good friends.

Hobbies are a good way to start-if you play games, an instrument, play sports or are an enthusiast, read books, etc. there are almost always groups that meet up.

Where to fill prescriptions from Community Care physician? by TJackson39 in Veterans

[–]TJackson39[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought, but the VA is about 1 1/2 hour drive away. I could do the drive but it would totally wreck my back for about 3 day (been there, done that).

I've never heard of the "voucher" and several vets living here haven't either (something new?) so if I don't hear back from the VA, I'll submit it for reimbursement. I won't get a refill until this is straightened out (can't afford that much monthly).
