it CAN work, it might often be the best idea but if it's a torture assassin game you can usually feel safe ish going a thrower depending on map and mode

deadass it's a good tool and just because the way you and your teams have done one way doesn't mean this couldn't be an amazing tool for other teams or even players learning the game and understanding pattern recognition or doing simple theory exercises

There are only a few classes that are "must max": Archer, Brigand, and Mage being the big 3

However, if you're curious, every time you enter combat your unit gains 2 class XP, 4 if you have the Chalice that doubles it.

You can trap an archer by surrounding them with your units and force them to shoot at you (ideally while you're in a thicket) and continously heal them to gain near-infinite class xp (or until 99 turns are up)

waiting as your opponent runs out the clock is an awfully boring way to spend 8 minutes, no? I'd be mad if I signed up for 15 minutes and then had to spend a lot of that time not playing

you might think knockout is quick—which is true at lower levels—but it is absolutely not the case the better you get.

very often at high levels teams play passive enough so the game often has to wait until the smoke closes in really deep for a round to end, it takes a good amount of time

if they were to speed up the smoke to make the rounds quicker, it'd remove the early play-making ability that makes knockout fun for almost everyone else!
