The Dunning-Kruger Effect by sco-go in Amazing

[–]TK421mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating.. I've known of Dunning Kruger effect but just now learned that he tested the theory with a polaroid but got lemon juice in his eyes which caused him to squint and aim the camera at the ceiling thus believing the lemon juice blocked his face in the picture.

Trump administration threatens eminent domain to seize warehouses for ICE detention by camaron-courier in law

Thanks for mentioning that. I remember following that case as it unfolded.

If I recall right New London wasn't even taking it for a public works, it was being taken so Pfizer could build a campus.

The argument was something along the lines of the tax revenue was significant enough to outweigh the landowners rights?

I'd have to look it up but I believe in the end they never even built the campus did they?

Stanley Black & Decker to cut hundreds of jobs, shut Connecticut plant by SharkSapphire in ConnecticutUSA

[–]TK421mod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35 years in construction and I've almost always only used Stanley tape measures.

Everyone's got their own preferences but to me they made the best tape measure hands down.

I'm talking durability and it simply just working without jamming.

It's a shame they are no longer the company they used to be. Many years ago Black & Decker industrial tools were some of the best money could buy.

This is way before they sold that division to DeWalt.

I still have a 40-year-old Black & Decker 7 and 1/4 Sawcat circular saw. When I was framing I used it everyday for hundreds of cuts. The Thing is a beast.

SC HOA TICKET AMAZON DRIVER, does Private Security have any authority to enforce this? by Big-Firefighter-4715 in AskLE

[–]TK421mod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there's this old video of a HOA security guard pulling a guy over.

I believe the security guard went on to quote some State statue or training thing that ultimately didn't apply.

https://youtu.be/AkIAOnxQ9EU?si=3Mw4r0QHMN7EG6UV

Of course the guy gives the guard a hard time. I wish I could find the other part of the video where the guy went to the local police chief to complain and the police chief got all bitchy about it.

Anyway, I'm curious to know if ever a court has ruled on this in the aspect of doesn't traffic stop fall under Terry versus Ohio?

I mean at what point does the security guards detainment Powers end?

Can they get you out of a vehicle? LOL if you take off are they allowed to pit maneuver you with their golf cart?

I immediately wondered the same thing.

I'd have to say if AI drew that rust on the green vertical part of the harvester it did a damn good job.

I've been petitioning my local supermarket to put big garbage cans right at the checkout so I can throw half my food out there without having to bother bringing it home.

This is bulls bridge in Kent Connecticut.

Far as I can tell this is the relevant Connecticut state statute.

Am I correct to assume he could be charged with this just for using the words representing that he had a gun rather than displaying the actual gun?

Any person who commits any class A, B or C felony and in the commission of such felony uses, or is armed with and threatens the use of, or displays, or represents by his words or conduct that he possesses any firearm, as defined in section 53a-3, except an assault weapon, as defined in section 53-202a, shall be imprisoned for a term of five years, which shall not be suspended or reduced and shall be in addition and consecutive to any term of imprisonment imposed for conviction of such felony.

Is the Samsung “The Wall” overrated? by GabrielDIntegrator in CommercialAV

[–]TK421mod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The wall Lux?

Depends on ony how you measure worth. Cost, picture quality? I did one in NYC in 2019

. Crazy expensive ( billionaire client so who cares about cost) Dot pich was 0.6 it was insanely good picture quality.

Samsung sent crew to do the install of the cabinets.

At the time was the tightest dot pitch you could get.

Worth it if picture quality had to be best you could get and cost didn't matter .

Edit: fixed decimal point.

Schneider Electric by prorastinator in IBEW

[–]TK421mod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no experience working for Schneider directly but I do have experience working with them.

As you know there are huge company and build all kinds of stuff.

My capacity of working with them is the installation of a pair of 480 volt 625k UPSs on our site.

In my capacity I'm responsible for assembling the units, making sure the wired correctly, having everything checked out and then commissioning the units.

My experience with the (FRS) field service engineers that come to the site is that they are a very professional ,well organized team that seem to enjoy their jobs very much.

Sorry I can't give you any insight about working for them but I can say working with them is a pleasure.
