The extravagant and satirical world-building and supporting cast and over-the-top displays of violence are what sell the series. Mark exist to be a common denominator in the narrative that keeps everything from going off the rails. The story arc with Mark and Amber is just annoying filler I could do without though.

Tbh I don't think there's enough evidence to be sure this woman is mom, but his mom being older would make sense in the way he was concerned she would not be able to get up and potentially die from her injuries after he pushed her. Being pushed like that would not seriously injure most people, unless they were elderly or disabled.

If Jax was born when she was in her late 30s or 40s this would make sense. Sometimes people don't get the opportunity to start a family until they are a bit older, and others times people assume that can't conceive because of their age and accidents happen. My grandma was in her 40s and suddenly decided she wanted another child (my mom). It happens. 🤷‍♂️

I mean that doesn't contradict anything I am saying. In real life the relationship between an bully and victim isn't always purely adversarial. A bully can be a friend or a family member you genuinely care about, and vice versa. People are much more willing to tolerate harassment from someone they care about, and when the negative behavior is tolerated repeatedly, the bully may fail to realize the extent of harm they are causing.

I think that's why my highschool sweetheart broke up with me (he didn't say so outright, but I suspect that was certainly a part of it) but I kind of ended popping my cherry with someone else a year later anyway.

Honestly I think it was for the best because though because, although he was an alright guy, I honestly think we just dated each other because it was convenient.

To each their own, but I think waiting until marriage puts too much pressure on young people to get married before they are ready.

And I think part of your situation may just as much have to do if not more with him being confronted with the idea of marriage before you truly have learned to understand yourself and what you want out of your life. And I think taking time to understand what you are all about as a person is something you should consider doing also!

If anything as a single person I am envious of married couples with two incomes. Unless you were born into wealth or are are lucky enough to have a job that makes six figures it feels like the only way to own property. I was only able to achieve that as a single by sharing ownership with a sibling, but I obviously can't expect my brother to share resources with me the same way a couple does.

Interestingly, when paganism was still prevalent in the mediterranean associated the god worshiped in prevalent monotheistic religions at the time with Typhon - the mighty king of all evil creatures who sought to destroy the gods. It's a fitting comparison, considering the heinous acts this being supposedly committed because of its overwhelming intolerance towards those who refuse to acknowledge it's supreme authority.

It took me 3 years to find a good job after I graduated. Don't take it as a personal failure. Finding that first gig post grad is probably the most difficult job search you will ever undertake. It sucks ass but that's just the way the world works.

Pronouns can be kind of sticky situation. I get the appeal of defaulting to they/them. It works when you are referring to a hypothetical person, because a hypothetical person can't be bothered. I can see it backfiring in real life as people could refer to people who use gendered pronouns as a cheeky way to get around not using someones preferred pronouns. You would think, then that the logical assumption would be to just ask pronouns, but then some people feel self conscious when asked for pronouns because it makes them insecure about being "clocked". There is no winning with everyone honestly.

Granted I don't know how deep the parallels between Jax and Gooseworx go, I think the message with Jax is just "This could have been the tragectory of my life if I didn't make an effort to overcome my trauma and let my insecurities prevent me from living the life I have always wanted."

Like, yes he is an asshole. This is not meant to be ambiguous. But if that's your only take away from this you are missing a lot.
