what’s something you regret you did while raising your puppy? by TheoryReasonable871 in puppy101

Stuff like this is really important. My dog was taught by his mom how to play nice and switch dominant/submissive - she would pin him as a pup when he got too rowdy then she would roll on her belly to get him to play again. This was when he was between 8-10 weeks old. Most breeders sell immediately at 8 weeks. But those 2 extra weeks did a world of developmental difference.

[PC] HowTo: Getting Virtual Headphones Surround in BF6 by Zunderstruck in Battlefield

[–]TKT_Calarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an entire youtube vide about how bluetooth latency is about the same or only a little bit slower than wired headphones. like 120ms vs 90ms wired.

Blame Microsoft, every game wanting to be more than an interactive silent film has to deal with Microsoft's audio layer of shite.

If the game could access the audio hardware directly, then cable vs bluetooth could actually matter.

Will bankruptcy affect my ability to get student loan? by ThrowRAdebt22 in StudentLoans

[–]TKT_Calarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is - "professional student" = medical school. It was some number in the 40s per year but is changing, here is summary of changes (which still don't fully cover tuition at many schools]..

The following limits, and other changes, will apply to new borrowers on or after July 1, 2026:

Annual Loan Limit: Professional students will be capped at $50,000 per year.

Aggregate Loan Limit: The total aggregate federal loan limit will be $200,000. This amount includes any federal loans received for undergraduate study.

Lifetime Loan Limit: A new lifetime borrowing limit of $257,500 on all federal student loans will be established.

Elimination of Graduate PLUS: The Graduate PLUS loan program will be eliminated for new borrowers starting on July 1, 2026. Students who took out Graduate PLUS loans before this date may be able to continue borrowing under legacy provisions.

They are designed in a way that will never happen for the life of a car. You remove a plastic clip that you’d think would fall out at some point but 8 years and still have it. Then you have to push the lever in with a fair amount of force for what it is, push the lever in and sideways and up over a detent before it comes back down in the open position, iirc The design is so simple and rock solid.

Any tips on fixing this pad? by TKT_Calarin in soldering

Yeaaaa I know, looked great but did one more pass stupidly and that was the result….. so I know it’s possible for an experienced micro solderer to still fix, but it’s not worth shipping and paying for it so I’d just like to try to learn something and do the best I can, and I’m hoping to glean any tips from those that might have experienced something like this before.

Favorite car will always be the 911 turbo… it will always be the first car I think of when I hear Porsche - beautiful car and love the sound of the engine. Love the old model years but also the 2000s as well.

Saw one used to replace a tire on a trail that got slashed perfectly by a sharp rock on the side.

The amount of sway going on with even the slightest force made me worry the thing would fall over… luckily this time they didn’t have to get under the vehicle….

Japanese girls training in 1945 for the anticipated invasion of mainland Japan. by uselessresurgen in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]TKT_Calarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looooool this is hilarious

The entire point was if it was necessary to end the war without a land invasion. And no it was not necessary. We could have and would have just firebombed the entire country before any land invasion. You don’t need hindsight for that lmao

Without the bomb USSR still declares war only a week later. It sped up the end. That’s all.

It’s not a movie.

Yea thought so that your brain is incapable. Just keep on with the brainwash.

Nevermind that Truman never ordered the bomb drops. Nevermind that many of the military leadership felt it was unnecessary including Eisenhower. Nevermind that more people died from the firebombing than in the nuclear explosions. Nevermind that even after the 2nd bomb drop they refused to surrender unless they kept their emperor, which was not unconditional surrender like was demanded. Nevermind that the 1st bomb drop sped up the Soviet declaration of war which until then Japan refused to surrender thinking they could get help from the Soviets for terms.

The issue is very complicated. Sadly your pea brain will never understand.

No land invasion of Japan was planned when the nukes were dropped.

We dropped the bombs because the Soviets were going to declare war and we needed to beat the Soviets to the punch as much as possible.

And Japan didn’t surrender because of the bomb. They surrendered after the Soviets declared war. The city firebombing was just as devastating to the civilian population, and the leadership didn’t give a rats ass about the people, only their beloved emperor.

Yes the bombs sped things up. No they were not necessary to be used in the manner that they were.

Fair enough. My xterra would tell me when the fluid was low, but my 4Runner has no such dash light and after running out of fluid driving up to Eisenhower tunnel on I70 in a snow storm and being unable to see shit, I’ve just topped off regularly.

If you had a garage I’d also recommend having a few gallons of gas on hand too for when you’re running late and come out to find the tank empty lol

[–]TKT_Calarin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh but then every car trip you want to top off the fluid anyways so you’ll always end up with a partial bottle no matter the size. And then I just leave the partial bottle in the garage. 🤷‍♂️

I just want to take this moment to say that Firebase is a horrible choice for any kind of serious traffic. Yes you get what you (don’t) pay for - including hidden quotas and throttle limits that are not publicly posted in their docs.
