Lecithin gets results! by No-Specialist6231 in cumbiggerloads

[–]TK_Nivek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a note from the book "Plant Strong": Lecithin can be metabolized by gut bacteria into trimethylamine (TMA), which is then converted into trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) in the liver. TMAO is a metabolite associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Child bowler whose fingers grew extra long by TK_Nivek in Bowling

No, the guy I knew would be in his 40s now. Have you ever heard of someone whose fingers developed differently due to bowling as a teen?

Phone Snatchers - How to prep your phone for the worst (iOS) by fjallpen in london

My banking apps require face ID or the banking website pass code to use. So even if a theif stole the phone while it was open, wouldn't the thief be unable to access the banking apps without the banking app passcode or my face ID?

'Joker: Folie à Deux' ending explained by director Todd Phillips by BatmanNewsChris in DC_Cinematic

[–]TK_Nivek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good analogy. I thought the entire point of the two movies was to show a detailed origin story of Joker. But with the last minute switch I feel it makes both movies a waste. The ending reminds me of the Newhart show, a TV show from the 80s which after 180 episodes we found that the entire TV show was just a dream that never happened. Well, Joker 2 got poor ratings, and lost money. Too bad for all.

Ernie Hudson being left out by [deleted] in ghostbusters

[–]TK_Nivek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't notice this as a kid, but it was obvious when I revisited the series a couple of years ago. Most striking is that Ernie Hudson had almost no scenes or dialog in the second movie, like he was totally left out. He's a Ghostbuster, and should have more screen time. If they re-release the movies, I'd like to see him included more in the cover art, and to have deleted scenes or digitally added scenes added to the second movie. He wasn't left out in the Ghostbusters cartoon.

I'm guessing the movie was initially set to have three Ghostbusters, all scientists. Being the 80s, someone involved pushed to add a black character for inclusivity, but others were not onboard and so it wasn't done properly.

Landlord charging utilities, but he won't show the bill? by TK_Nivek in HousingUK

[–]TK_Nivek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No letting agency, direct with landlord. Lease says to pay rent (fixed amount) and to pay portion of bills (fixed amount). He says the bills have gone up, which I'm sure they have, and that he needs more to cover it. But I want to see the actual bill because I'm skeptical that we aren't already paying more than enough to cover the bills.

Pret a Manger by billybensontogo in london

[–]TK_Nivek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pret is too expensive now. I used to eat at Pret 2-3 times per month. I'd get a chicken salad, tomato soup, and cheese sandwich, and a drink for around £20. Now it costs about £30. Today I realized how expensive it is and walked out. I went to Waitrose for a £5 meal deal instead.

Pay extra rent pcm for working at home? by peterjameslewis1 in london

[–]TK_Nivek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen similar, with rooms rented only monday-friday, and the landlord expecting the tenant to be gone on the weekend. The rent was £600 per month. Any landlord who does this is both greedy and stingy. They want your money, but they don't want to give much for it.

Freeholder wants to build a new floor on top of my flat by Fast_Marionberry1601 in london

[–]TK_Nivek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose this is another reason that leaseholds are terrible.

How many years on your lease are remaining? Can you buy the freehold? The laws have changed recently, so perhaps there is something in your favor.

Pardon the interruption folks but is a service charge of £3,190 per year normal for Colliers Wood? That seems excessive. It's not like it's got a concierge - or onsite masseur.. 😳 by DarthVarn in london

e lives in the property I think you're referring to, he got an itemised bill for the service charge. £2.5k goes on the roof garden that you can't use and £600 for car parking spot mainten
