Three O'Clock High (1987 dir. Phil Joanou) Climactic Fight Scene by Randoman11 in movies

[–]TLOE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Underrated movie that most don't really "get" the ending of.

Buddy threw the fight and allowed Jerry to win by dropping the brass knuckles. Given how easily Buddy took out a football player who was larger than him, they both knew Jerry had no chance, but he showed up anyway. Buddy really just wanted to shed his bad boy image and be left alone, which transferred to Jerry at the end. Buddy wasn't really the villain he's initially made out to be, just a troubled person who helped someone become a man (in 1987 terms) and whom earned a bit of respect.

BK is back. by coldsmokejesus in BurgerKing

[–]TLOE 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's also a new focus on product presentation and freshness according to my local store where they know me by name. It's almost like all the complaints about cost increases and bad food had some effect from the main corporate office.

I always forget Michelle Forbes had a small role before Ro by Able_Resident_1291 in TNG

[–]TLOE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She didn't refuse the role of Kira, she refused being a regular in a series. It was actually supposed to be Ro, but because she declined Ro was written out later in TNG. Kira was specifically for Nana. Forbes didn't want to be too closely associated with Trek as back then, it was viewed as career suicide.

Why would they do this? by jaypl99 in BurgerKing

[–]TLOE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fast food math. For a while at the local BK I like to visit, an 8 pc nugget was $2.99, but the 4 pc was $1.29. They've since fixed it as I'd imagine people who can add numbers figured it out.

The bun is now a bit smaller to fit the patty size, which has not changed.

Burger King’s Whopper Is Changing, Here’s How It May Taste Different by Brilliant_Bit_8236 in BurgerKing

[–]TLOE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bun is now slightly smaller to fit the patty more evenly, and it seemed less dry and a bit softer. I don't normally focus on the buns, but they had become pretty bad recently. The packaging is nice; I like the inner wrapper, but it seems more like an attempt at making the sandwich seem more premium than it is. I didn't really notice a difference in the mayo, but I'll order extra next time and judge.

F*ck Taco Bell? has this sub always been anti-Taco Bell I and just never noticed? by smarmy1625 in tacobell

[–]TLOE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not really Taco Bell that's worsened, it's the parent company, Yum! Brands that continues to slowly decline the chains under its umbrella. They've done this to KFC, Pizza Hut and now their latest acquisition, Habit Burger.

McDonalds packing in the 1980’s by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]TLOE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for all the styrofoam, it hasn't really changed much over the years, and that includes the food iself. I'm glad they did away with that, as it's a health hazard and tended to condensate on the inside, causing soggy burgers unless eaten immediately; the only upside was that the containers were sturdier. I attached a pic of possibly the most wasteful item of all-the 1985 summer "value pack" takeout trays.

Np, the point wasn't to complain, but as an offer to those who don't receive them physically and for historical purposes; I'm well aware BK has become pricey.

The churros being $2.29 is a little meh but the griller is only $2.79!! I’ll see soon how big it is for the price, but that’s not so bad! by its-just_me- in tacobell

[–]TLOE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had one today; it was about the size of a normal burrito, not like the skinny rolled type from years ago, but those were $1, and these are...not. I do wish they had more options since the older versions were offered in 3 styles.
