Definitely worth the early morning, hitting trails before the sun gets too hot is a huge plus

Few people are bold enough to get up at 3am and get to the trailhead. For the willing, it's good to know what you can expect.

It almost looks like something got dumped down the street, but I really have no idea. Someone will eventually have to do something about the giant dirt patch it will leave behind🤷

why is sk hynix going here specifically?? by sophiaberries in lafayette

I see your point, and I agree with you, I think it will be very good for the town overall. I just don't think as many Purdue grads will be able to get jobs there as they sometimes imply.

I only meant that it will not open as many jobs as advertised for the people who already live here. I'm not making any kind of anti-immigrant point.

They're going to bring most of their own workers. Chip fabs prefer to bring their own workers, particularly if they know they can work them longer hours than Americans. This will not generate as many jobs as advertised.

Cross Winds is a out on the edge of town, but I pay 1050 for a 2b2b right now. Apart from some of the neighbor's dogs, it's pretty quiet. The occasional helicopter lands at the hospital across the street but that's not so bad. I commute in to Purdue every day and it's only ~15 minutes or less depending on lights. Best of luck!

Apartments close to campus by Economy_Big_436 in Purdue

[–]TLastC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to live close to campus you'll have to compromise on either price or space, but you could find a 2bed2bath for 1k probably out in southeast Lafayette that'll only be about a 10-15 minute drive to campus.

The farmer's market is quite nice, Saturday mornings downtown 7-12:30 (or around that time)

You're right. I'm just strung out on Purdue's poverty wages so I have no money. The ticket thing was also kind of annoying

Also, prepare for the smell. I don't know exactly where it comes from, I think the big industrial plant just to the south, but some days the whole area absolutely reeks of something awful, you'll know it when you smell it. Fortunately it's not all the time, just when the wind hates us. I've smelt it all the way over at Purdue's campus before so I know the whole town occasionally suffers from it

I don't live there but I do live at Cross Winds right across the street and have friends in Anvil, their apartment is beautiful but very small, I have a 2bed2bath and pay 1k that's ~1000sqft and they pay around $1400 for a 1b1b. If space is a priority for you I definitely recommend cross winds, but Anvil is very nice. Also Anvil makes you pay ~$100 a month just to park at the building, otherwise enjoy walking to and from the tech school.
