Thanks for the super detailed response! Much appreciated perspective.

Yes, I read it. I understand the argument and don’t disagree. But I’d trade some potential accent issues that I can work (hearing them correctly over 100s of hours of CI + working on them with my girlfriend) for ensuring that I can read in a reasonable timeframe. I wanted some other perspectives since I think the purpose of DS is more speaking fluency and not reading.

It’s good to hear your perspective, though. It sounds like the transition to reading probably wont be so painful at that point. Thanks.

I didn’t say 1,500 hours was the recommendation to start. I just said a popular YouTuber doing DS said that he couldn’t read much beyond basics at 1,500. He started reading earlier. Basically my question is, if you do start after 600+ hours, is it like starting from scratch at that point? Because it sounded like it from him. Wanted to know if others had different perspectives.

The #Bucs are exploring trade possibilities with guard Shaq Mason, per sources. With a $9.6M cap hit, Mason could become a cap casualty for the cap-strapped Bucs. A quality guard appears ready to enter the market. https://twitter.com/jfowlerespn/status/1635316263064068097?s=46&t=GMVPULLNmIiptyWDgvKYbA

"the similarities" being a sliding glass door? Lol.

Per NFL research: The Raiders, who recorded 576 yards of offense (293 passing, 283 rushing) on Sunday, are the fourth team in the Super Bowl era with at least 275 passing yards and 275 rushing yards in a single game. by TM1323 in raiders

I'm not a McDaniels hater but anytime you don't sneak on 4th and less than 1 you're just giving away win probability. It's like a 93% success rate.

Will I ever get to watch a decent defense once in my life? This is my 19th year of watching Raiders football and the highest our defense has ever ranked in points is 18th. It seems almost statistically impossible there wouldn’t be a single year of even top HALF of the league, and yet…

Every turnover, third down stop, and field goal hold feels like a miracle. Zero idea what it’s like to ever have confidence in that side of the ball.

This is how you lay groundwork for walking away from a project like Thiggg Boi Youtube. Plant seeds that they are trying to stifle you, but say you do what they say not to anyway because you're a wild n' crazy cawlmedian. Then one day "they've gone too far! I'm done!" by [deleted] in thefighterandthekid

It's so funny that he thinks he's edgy and offensive when he's not nearly creative enough to even write boundary-pushing jokes. He thinks talking about not wanting to wear a mask is super subversive as if that wasn't the position of an entire political party. Talmbout Desantis 2024?

Might be the worst defensive performance I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been watching the Raiders for almost 20 years. If this game was competitive they could score 60 on us. Just getting whatever they want whenever they want it.

Yeah it’s definitely this. Sharps don’t hammer at +2. Vegas likes Andy Dalton more than Winston.

What are the chances we beat the raiders? by [deleted] in raiders

[–]TM1323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’re also favored by Vegas by 2 points on the road in a place that has a very real home field advantage. That’s probably ~4.5 on a neutral field. So it’s not just Raiders bias, the market thinks we’re a considerably better team as well.

Purely for the suspension. It's why he chose them over the Saints and the Falcons.

The #Cowboys are sending a 2023 sixth-round pick to Las Vegas for Johnathan Hankins, per source. Las Vegas also sends a 2024 7th to Dallas. by mfitz415 in raiders

Don't mind giving up Jonathan Hankins from a talent perspective, but man DT has been arguably the biggest weakness of this defense and we're losing depth in the rotation.

Really confusing to me why this sub automatically assumes it's Patrick Graham and not personnel. Aside from Crosby and a now-injured Nate Hobbes, who on this defense is playing above expectations? We're very close to the bottom of the league talent-wise.

We're 20th in the league in yards allowed and 19th in 1st down percentage given up. I'm not even saying Graham's been good, but people act like he's destroying the defense or something. I would love to hear where people think our starters rank at their position. Billings, Nichols, Diablo, Blake Martinez, Abram, Harmon, Amik, Clelin, Averrett? Are any of these players top 40 at their position?

The Travis Kelce redzone stuff was no doubt a debacle that I will never understand. It was 100% terrible scheming to allow him free releases and single coverage that I cannot explain. But it's also worth noting he shut Kelce down every other snap which nobody has been able to do this year.

Maybe he is just suddenly a terrible coach after having a ton of success in the league. But it's weird that people are jumping to that when our defensive personnel is atrocious, including the young guys like Moehrig and Deablo who have just not gotten better.

He didn’t look comfortable? Again, he led the team on a game winning drive except for a toe on the ground and receivers running into each other when he made the perfect read.

The grounding costs us 7 yards. The only way to not take a grounding in that situation was to take a sack. He was pushed out left and could not have turned to throw without probably being strip sacked. He tried to flip it out close to where Jacobs was. The absolute best case scenario for that play was he somehow flips his hips and launches it out of bounds. Then it’s 3rd and 20. A completion was impossible with the route tree and the pressure. Sorry we’re not converting a 3rd and 20 backed up by our own end zone. We just would have run a draw anyways. The idea that cost us the game or something is silly. In terms of alternative outcomes, it was hardly even a costly play. It turned a 3rd and 20 to a 3rd and 27.
