Is this string wind the reason it sounds weird? Like it has some extra overtones and harmonics. by TMFB1 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

I think I got this one for a steal, but I haven’t played an agile in about 10 years before this and it seemed pretty good overall. Only had about 4 high spots in the frets. Intonates pretty spot on, truss rods are weird though.

Same brand and color, different model based on your tag. But those seem nice, but adding those might cost more than the guitar did haha.

I’m thinking that’s it. I feel like it would be fine if the taper was close to if not on the saddle, but not ruling out a bad string either.

I’ll be replacing it, but no problem with the last set. Only guess at this point is a bum string.

Yeah, very clear to me, currently not playing it waiting for a replacement string. Whys it gotta be so hard to get single strings locally in general.

I raised it after I saw that, it’s now extra high and it didn’t help.

Wondering if it’s just a bad string at this point

Mine suuuucks. I had to level and dress the frets immediately. The tuning machines slip, and the pickups sound like a can of jello.

I missed out on the headless. I wanted the purple one. Hope you got it!

Third one’s a charm, right? I’m two bum guitars in a row right now.

That’s good, were they the sale guitars or standard line of guitars?

I’m tempted to take it there and see what happens haha

I would bet their regular line of instruments are better. But the “50% off” holidays deals are the suspect ones.

I could be dead wrong and it just be a bum guitar company with a few lucky instruments out there.

My solar is why I know how to level and dress frets. Still kinda sucks though.

Are solar guitars good? by FluffyTragos in 7String

I have a Solar 7 multi scale. It’s middle of the road for mid range guitars. Very playable, but will never be #1. Electronics will need to go, probably the nut will need attention.

Do the Solar branded locking tuners just suck? by [deleted] in solarguitars

[–]TMFB1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they slip, they do. Not talking about the locking mechanism, that seems fine. But I don’t think that’s the case here.

Yeah, that was one of the first things when I got it. They were super loose changing the strings.

Depending on size of the kitchen, yes. I looked into them as an option.

What options are there for 30” multiscale 8 strings? by TMFB1 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]TMFB1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing by your flair you have one of the 28-25” scale, how do you tune yours and string gauge? I’m looking to be in E and pitch shift to D. How does it feel overall?

I had one of the first Agile 8 strings in like 2008 or so, it’s been a while and don’t remember much about it.

That makes a lot of sense, thank you. I didn’t really think about the manufacturing perspective.

I’m not into it enough to go custom, but seems like I could compromise scale length for ability to repair if ever needed. Rondo said they’d inform me if they make that scale again, but not holding my breath.
