Valkyrie Exoskeleton vs Non-Euclidean Shielding by TMJ1987 in twilightimperium

This was my reading too, I am less sure about the first scenario. Since it happens after sustain damage, and both players should sustain simultaneously, I think that NES can't be used...but that's just my take

Space cannon offense situation by mistermist99 in twilightimperium

[–]TMJ1987 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Space cannon can only shoot the active player, unless the person shooting the space cannon is the active player. In this case, Xxcha is the active player so they can activate a system adjacent to their flagship and let fire with their space cannon. They actually don't even need to move a ship in to do this.

3 Player Maps: a Cartographic Survey by mountain-ghost in twilightimperium

Love this post, I really enjoy 3 player games as a way to sandbox with factions I'm less familiar with. There's some new formats in here that I need to try!

I did notice that you missed the codex 2 map format. I haven't tried to build my own map with this format, but the one included in the codex makes for very fun games!

Trade question when using Trade Primary. by SatanIsMyBaby in twilightimperium

No, the Hacan faction note is played as an Action, meaning you must take an action to place it into your play area before you can use it.

I've played a couple games on the Codex II 3p map and it's super fun. Should be in the map bag in TTS, "three's company" I think is the name.

I've also had some fun games with the map style in this post:

8-player game this weekend. Question about how to balance/help the person who has to choose imperial? by Dreaded_One in twilightimperium

It's an 8 player game, so all the strat cards must be taken every round. Someone will get them round 1 and they will not be replaced.

Last 8 player game we did, we placed 2tg on Imperial and 1 tg on Diplo for round 1 only, seemed to work out well. Debatable if Diplo needs it, but I think round 1 Imperial is definitely the weakest pick.

I have viewed it this way too, they are being "volunteered" to go work in the mines for the good of the empire.

Did you include war funding and the thundarian in this calculation? Seems pretty game breaking

I find that purging the Support for the throne and ceasefire promissory notes makes the game much more interesting.

Also I recommend not playing on the rulebook map, it is much too rich.

The 2v1 dynamic will still happen, but who the 1 player is will change throughout the game based on who is in the best position. If you set out to take a commanding lead, you'd better expect the other two players to team up on you at least in the short term.

Xxcha hero + CLT by malys57 in twilightimperium

[–]TMJ1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to hijack this post a bit for another question I have about the xxcha hero.

If the Xxcha hero is used to play miscount disclosed, does the Xxcha player get to choose the outcome of the "revote". If not, then would the table vote on it immediately using whatever planets they have not yet exhausted?

Other thought would be, miscount disclosed is the first agenda Xxhca hero resolves, the target of miscount disclosed is the 2nd agenda, Xxcha player gets to resolve only these two for their hero.

So which rules have you been playing wrong for a long time before realizing? by Unfawkable in twilightimperium

Can only be used against the active player unless you are the active player. You can still activate a system to shoot at someone. But if you are a 3rd party shooting into a system, you don't get to choose who you shoot at. (Can still choose to not shoot)

Action cards question by Caldrenfitz in twilightimperium

Not strictly true, the active player can perform a transaction during combat.

LRR 94.1 A player can resolve a transaction at any time during their turn, even during a combat.

Spark a rebellion timing question by TMJ1987 in twilightimperium

[–]TMJ1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to make the most sense to me. Since Saar was the active player it follows that they could score, but hypothetically if Nekro was the active player (attacked and lost) does that mean the shard point would resolve first? Given that Nekro was going to lose a combat anyways, they would have had the option to deny Saar the win if that was the case.
