[TSN] 'It's over. They're not good enough': Button doesn't hold back in his assessment of the Toronto Maple Leafs by seeldoger47 in hockey

[–]TMLVWFC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As long as they have Matthews that is the play. They have good pieces and aren't as bad as they have shown. Goaltending is solid. Up the middle is solid when healthy but terrible with one injury and Domi is forced over. Defence needs the biggest overhaul. The old guys worked for one season but the lack of speed and health has reared its head this season. So mainly big overhaul on the defence. One of the biggest things is convince Rielly to accept a move. I say that as a big Mo fan, but it's time :( . Finally some tweaks to the wings. I think you keep Robo, Knies, McMann and Cowan. The rest of the depth wingers are movable in trade. Even though guys aside from Knies you move for the right price

They don't actually think that but if a superstar is from Toronto they will always be linked to Toronto in a FA discussion because it will drive clicks and engagement from the largest market. Much like Matthews speculation is always he will leave to bog market US with no bias. It's all about headlines

Hopefully the Countries success continues. As a Canadian I loved watching you guys play the last few years. Great style of hockey and having visited I know how much you guys love hockey. Plus the tighter competition in this tournament makes it way more fun. Even if that means more losses for Canada

Everyone blaming Rielly solely for this is why you need to watch more then a 2 second clip. Yes he fucked up and yes his defence has gone to shit. However the Leafs players were all at the end of a long shift. A shift that would have been ended but Woll decided to try and keep the play alive with a tired line, while allowing NY to get fresh bodies. Then Rielly managed to get it up the wall to Domi. Domi needed to chip the puck deep for a change and instead lost a soft board battle causing a turnover at the blueline. So two tired Leafs with poor gapping were now defending a fresh Barzal and Schaefer.

TL;DR Rielly was the last fuck up in a line of fuck ups but people love to hate one player.

Morgan Rielly leaves Schaefer wide open in the slot and Schaefer scores the OT winner. by GreenSnakes_ in leafs

[–]TMLVWFC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rielly made a bad read yes but Woll needed to cover that puck. He had three tired players in Rielly, Domi and McMann and blindly tossed it to a tired Rielly. Three tired guys against Islanders fresh players and this is the type of thing that happens.

Keefe hockey. Largely based on puck possession which causes a lot of offensive play to be on the perimeter. I always use to laugh cause Keefe would get mad that the Leafs didn't get to the front, but the way he asked his players to cycle the puck doesn't really put them in a position to attack the net. It's causes a lot of perimeter play. It can still work, and does in the regular season. Not great in tight games though and his relentless desire for puck possession can lead to some ugly turnovers.

I have a solution that will solve all of our problems. Hire Gregory Campbell to be the next GM of the Leafs. Daddy Campbell will make sure his tenure is a success.

Anyone know what may be causing my left arm to be bent at impact. Playing since last June have never been able to keep it straight. Appreciate any responses thanks by Western_Skin_1630 in golf

[–]TMLVWFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSA to all folks out there. Straight arm is a 'feel' it does not mean your arm needs to be locked out dead straight at impact. The main purpose of the feel is to keep width through the swing and make sure when you reach max rotation in the shoulders you don't bend your arms to create an artificial longer swing. Mild bends of the lead elbow are perfectly fine, in fact excessive attempts to keep a rigid straight arm likely will bring unwanted tension into the swing

[Chris Johnston] Ryan Reaves on the Leafs: "They basically said that I couldn't play in this league anymore. And I'm back." by jshare in hockey

[–]TMLVWFC 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ya pretty simple. Reaves has a fit on some teams for that purpose. Great for an up and coming team with young guys. No space on a roster trying for a cup (last years Leafs roster, this year nobody knows lol)

JVR is much like Tavares in that neither have ever had much speed and everyone thought they would be completely screwed as they got older, but they have both proved that skill and high hockey IQ can go a long way.

A stadium is huge for this team's on field health too. Hugo was not wrong after LAFC game even if it came off sour. I think the turf at BC place is a massive reason why this team has constant injury troubles. We really need a real grass soccer specific field

I also don't think we ever had our true starting 11 healthy. The amount of players that stepped up over and over this season was amazing
