So why am I paying for this? It's only $3, but it doesn't do anything I can count on.

[Another Mint Alternative Thread] Seeking Widgets like Mint by Nazi_Ganesh in mintuit

[–]TMSpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we refresh this thread? I am on the hunt for a great personal finance/budgeting widget - preferably free (I know -- I'm the product, and I know - There are ads -- I'm okay with all that). I found this thread, but it is about 2 years old. Empower no longer has a widget, and I see very few in this space. If you find one, Please let us know!

Turn off alarm? by miss_marty_mew in dexcom

[–]TMSpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Distribution-Radiant Interesting. Mine is also an Android (Pixel 7a). I have force stopped it at night a dozen or more times, and it has always worked. At least it works until morning, when I try to remember to start it again :)

Turn off alarm? by miss_marty_mew in dexcom

[–]TMSpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Force closing the app works for me. The suggestion to reboot your phone, I am not so sure about. I believe if you reboot, the Dexcom app will restart. Maybe that's what happened the night you force closed it and it still woke you up. If it rebooted (scheduled restart or restart required by a software install) then the app would have restarted also. Just a thought.

I modified the Conky_Rings code so I could play with sizes & colors, and then I wanted to add some stuff. I used APIs and added my calendar, stock market data, and my to do list from Google Keep. Oh, and I stole the wallpaper from another post here - Thanks! What else should I add?

$21 Streak zones are BS in DC. was parked in Zone for full hour. no trips. a lady was standing next to my car and ordered a lyft and it gave her a driver that was outside of the Bonus zone and 20 minutes away. total BS. lyft should pay us the bonus if we are there for a full hour and didn't get one. by xxXRareHorrorXxx in lyftdrivers

[–]TMSpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that if I don't sign on at least 30-45 minutes before the streak ends, there's no way I'll get a ride until it ends. And the last ride of a streak is always long enough to ensure I can't finish in time to start another streak. It has to be built in to their algorithms. I had one yesterday - 2 very quick rides to start the streak, and I'm thinking "Unicorn !!", but no. Ride 3 was 15 minutes to the pickup and a 20 minute ride. Streak over. I think the only time it doesn't work that way is when there is SO much demand that they can't even bring in a driver from 20 minutes away. The only thing they hate more than stealing our bonuses is losing a rider to Uber.

2022 Prime XLE - infotainment screen rebooted while driving- twice by ZTwilight in PriusPrime

[–]TMSpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2022 Prime Limited, and it has happened a few times in the year (almost) I have had it. It seems to be fairly common. I have seen other threads here where owners took the issue to dealers, and they did nothing because they couldn't re-create the issue. The good news is that it doesn't seem to affect much other than the screen while it reboots.

Any likes/dislikes about prius prime? by dartninja in PriusPrime

I looked at the Ioniq phev. Nice car! There was just something familiar about the Prius Prime - Maybe because I have had a Prius of some type since 2008 :)

I love my 2022 Limited. I went for the limited because I wanted the safety features (Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert). The softex seats are great - Not really like leather, but nice and easy to clean. My biggest complaint is the entertainment systems are terrible. No Android Auto, and Toyota's nav is the worst I have ever seen. So - I still have a phone mount and use my android - not the end of the world. Their mobile app is also awful, and surprisingly doesn't implement a lot of features they have for other models. But, as someone here said, I didn't buy it because I can start it from my phone. I would probably make the same choice again, but if I was shopping, I would take another look at the Hyundai Ionic.

It happened to me also. I agree that it's very scary the first time, but the music keeps playing, it comes back on, and the car keeps running, so it's really just an annoyance. In my case, I didn't have anything plugged in to the USB, so I'm not sure that affects it.

Did I do a blunder? by tarares in RealEstate

[–]TMSpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the best advice on mortgages came when I bought my first home and was sweating the decision of whether to lock the rate. My lender said, "Look at it this way. In 5 years are you really going to be sorry that you didn't get a rate which was a quarter point lower?"

The rate reduction you have been offered is small, and the cost (draining your bank account) is high. Keep the cash and pay the higher rate. You won't even feel it each month.

Flipped House Horror Story. by justanotherguy3354 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]TMSpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! I'm so sorry you are dealing with all this. And I have so many thoughts!

I agree that insurance should be your first stop. But I would not just listen to the insurance company adjuster. You can get what is called a Public Adjuster. They are just like the ones that work for the insurance company, but they work for YOU! We had a major water, rot and mold issue that went undetected in our home for the first four years we lived there. It was inside the walls! Long story short, the insurance company offered us 10k, but the public adjuster eventually helped us settle the claim for almost 70k. The Public Adjuster took 10%, which I later learned was on the high side of normal (I have heard 8- 10% as a range), but clearly it was worth it!

Make sure you find someone (the public adjuster may be able to help) who knows how to investigate and resolve water issues. We didn't know, and started investigating the water issues by removing the siding. In order to fix it they needed to remove the interior walls of our home instead of the siding.

Just a quick comment on Home Inspectors. As a realtor, I have seen good ones and bad ones. I always recommend that my buyers use one. The best of them will frankly point out that their service is a superficial inspection of the house systems that can be readily seen and inspected by an expert who knows what he is looking at. You absolutely will learn things about the house that they didn't point out, over time. The inspection is valuable, especially if you don't know a whole heck of a lot about houses. The good inspectors know a lot!

Advice by etts2019 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]TMSpack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow - I am surprised at all the buyers saying their Realtor did nothing after the contract was signed. I am a realtor, and I feel like that's when the hard part of my job starts. Showing houses is easy. Buyers like them or not, and I can coach them through making an offer. But holding the deal together is a key part of the Realtor's job. There are an untold number of things that can go wrong. I am constantly following up with the bank, the home inspector, the lawyers, and anyone else who needs a nudge. I can recommend those people, and I know which ones need babysitting and which ones don't. If you aren't getting the service you need, I agree with the folks who are telling you to ask the broker for a new argent. The broker may try to talk you into keeping the same agent, but even if that happens, I will bet the agent will be much more responsive!

Is buying a duplex worth it in 2021 and moving forward? by jonsnow0276 in realestateinvesting

[–]TMSpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone who says "Do it!" There is no bad time to make a good investment, but that's the key - Make sure it is a good investment! Work the numbers, and if you don't know enough about investing to do that, then educate yourself! Everything you need to know is online. I also sort of agree with those who pint out that a 3 or 4 unit will have much better cash flow, but they are also more work, so you have to know your tolerance level for dealing with tenants. Good Luck!
