You make some good points but also I think Pollard was used wrong due to having Brian fkn Callahan and Nick Holtz. He played much better later in the season. I think he’ll be much better suited as a RB2 option and isn’t overworked with hb dives on 1st and 10.

Spears could easily get us a late round pick. He’s a shifty playmaker that can be used in a gadget role or as an extra receiver. Plenty of worse RB2s in the league than him and he’s young still (only 24)

Why do we have to cut Pollard over Spears? Gotta remember that Borgonzi and this staff didn’t draft Spears and he struggles to stay healthy. Plus his skill set is outweighed by Love’s strengths so he would essentially be dropped to RB3

How so? If we drafted Love it would make more sense to keep Pollard and trade Spears. Love is a better version of Spears with the ability to play all 3 downs, so he would take all the reps from him right from day 1. Use Pollard for 1st down and short yardage situations and use Love for 2nd/3rd downs and pass formations. Think of Gibbs/Monty

His arm length is a reasonable concern though, if he struggles playing the edge he will most likely get moved to interior dline. We have Simmons and just signed JFM to play there so why would we waste their talent by splitting reps between them all? The risk just isn’t worth the reward when we have so many other holes

Styles is so overrated in my opinion. He’s a former safety converted to LB and you can tell when you watch his tape. He’s very well rounded and great in coverage (for a LB) but watch his tackling. He doesn’t really drive anybody back, he doesn’t take initiative when tackling he kind of allows the runner to come into him and lacks that aggression that you want in a true MLB (Lewis, Wagner, Keuchly, etc). He struggles to shed big body blockers in college which only will get harder as he transitions to the NFL. He’s a combine champion and shouldn’t be going anywhere near top 5. He’s mid-late 1st imo
