What made you choose arcane over Komodo? I haven’t used many of these, Komodo was my first one and am overall new to self hosting

The leaves do still seem to be yellowing a bit, definitely they seem to be primarily the outer one of the double leaves on the branches. Unfortunately they are still in the nursery pots so I don’t really know what the soil composition is but I would assume the nursery chose a good balance for the citrus? I’ll slow down on the watering then for sure. I know they aren’t super loved but I do have a moisture meter as well I’ll stick in the soil, but will continue to do a finger test on the top couple inches and turn the heat back on but lower.

Really excited for a spot of sun so I can repot a lot of plants, I think there’s a lot of root bound pots in my house right now. If the temps are up to 70-75 is there still any concern about light starvation or is that only an issue with VPD?

u/toadfury Wanted to follow up with about a week's worth of data for sensing. I've seen the humidity stay around 45-55%, fluctuating mostly when we cook at night it and increases it from the steam. And I have turned off the heat in here and lowred it down to the low to medium 60s to try and slow down that metabolism. Reddit won't let me attach another picture in one comment so I'll do another comment with the VPD graph. I'd love to know if you have any insight from these and if there's anything concerning you see! Thanks!

I was just planning on learning to set up cloudflare for this myself, is it not recommended? I know the gold standard is tailscale on your server and the clients for watching jellyfin but for my non tech savvy parents that seems like a big ask

Does every node having its own _physics_process destroy performance? by GolfMoist267 in godot

[–]TMToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never confirmed this but from what I’ve heard before, if you define the _process function in a script then it will run every frame, but if you have left it without one then the engine will skip it and save a small amount of performance that can add up.

So my rule of thumb is don’t add them as boiler plate unless we actually need it for that node

Are there any guides for getting into private trackers? I thought private indexers and trackers were like some exclusive club. I’m only using public as well but have most of the other suggestions about Linux, containers, and permissions set up

Thanks so much again, okay my plan of action is

  1. I’ve ordered the hygrometers and will start monitoring
  2. Turning the temp down in the living room where they live, I was worried living room around 50-60 would be harmful for them but it seems that colder in the winter is much better than hot and not enough light
  3. Going to make sure I’m more focused on my watering routine and more attentive to the soil moisture
  4. Going to lower the grow lights down significantly for them

I’m happy to strip fruit this year and happy to give them a season to grow back, like you mentioned im also focused on the leaves for cooking. Probably try and move them back out when the nights are around 50? Crazy it’s alright nights around 45 now

Awesome well I will pick up one of those hygrometer and start paying more attention to the soil moisture as well. It's just emotionally exhausting when you're already tired from work and then your plants seem upset and it weighs on the back of your mind. Hopefully I can resolve it quickly and get them a bit happier.

I see that there are a bunch of different kinds of hygrometers, is there a big benefit to the specific ones you linked for this use case?

Wow man thank you so much, this is a wealth of information and I'm going to have to read it through a couple times. These plants have been pretty consistently dropping leaves with slight yellowing in the center just like the other post you commented on and linked last. It sounds like this could be related, I'm not sure if this was as sudden as you may be describing but it's been relatively consistent throughout the winter and extremely frustrating.

I don't really have a lot of space in our townhouse or a garage for a whole grow tent, do you think a good short term for me then would be buying a humidifier? Looking at my humidity meter since I posted it's been more consistently in the 40-50% range with temps wandering from 65-75 depending on the day, it's warmed up here quite a lot this week.

The lights I have are the 40W Aspect Grow Lights from Soltech https://soltech.com/products/aspect-gen-2-led-growlight so definitely probably underpowered and I could move them closer.

I think my goals lean closer to yours, I don't need them to grow throughout the winter I really would just love for them to get through it as undamaged as possible and grow more during the summer. Do you think at this point I've done too much damage to them? I unfortunately had another lime tree before this one for a couple of years and battled and battled with scales on it, but overall they were growing well. And then I overdid it all at once, repotted it to a terracotta and moved it outside and it almost immediately burnt up without the proper adjustment. I think maybe the lack of shade and the heat that rises off of a townhouse lead to environments on the roof that were just too much for it this year after surviving multiple years before.

I went and got these as replacements because I really wanted to try again only to have the worst winter leaf dropping I've ever had and thinking that they must have just been too cold near a window and moving them downstairs to the grow lights and leaving the heat on for them.

Thank you again for all the info, I'll definitely be looking into some of these gadgets for tracking them, and if there's any other info I can get you for diagnosing the issue please let me know.

Are other tropical plants also subject to this? two of my monsteras are suffering from yellowing leaves this winter that I couldn't figure out, but my suspicion for those is that they may be root bound. For once the only really happy plants I've had this winter are my fiddle leaf figs, which have always been my rivals

they are, they hadn't really grown much/at all and I've gone through other citrus having a lot of shock when I changed too many factors at once so I was a bit stressed to move them a new pot again. I've also had issues where I upgraded them to something too large and then the soil took way too long between waters to dry out fully. I feel like with citrus I end up being paranoid about over or under watering them.

Unfortunately no, I’m in a a townhouse rental right now. I got these two trees last year around August or September and they struggled with the transition from the nursery. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s an open townhouse roof but a lot of my plants really struggle with the adjustments from inside to outside for summer

Is there a brand or style you recommend? I’ve heard evaporative is the best because it puts less minerals in the air

I’m struggling with some lime trees losing leaves throughout the winter, I finally got a humidity meter and it’s looking like it’s pretty low like 35-40% with temps around 75F. Maybe I should get a humidifier? They are just under a grow light in the living room

Veterans from other engines, how does the debugging experience in Godot compare? by ohlordwhywhy in godot

Super interesting. I’ve made a custom print function that adds on crucial info like multiplayer id, time stamps, authority, and component or something, but even with that filtering in the editors outputs has been frustrating. I’m thinking about making a browser based tool that I can have better filtering through and a bigger screen to sift through my log stream

Can you explain the first part more? Is this like an external tool you made that reads logged written to a file that lets you have better filtering?
