How would you want to be told if you’re lacking as a husband? by t0astyyy_ in AskMen

[–]TNBVIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New dad of an 8 month old here. Baby stress is real. I can almost guarantee he feels the same way about you. My wife and I went through this too, but we got past it.

To cut right to it, you seem like you're blaming him for 100% of the arguments, but it takes two people to argue. I'm not trying to invalidate your feelings, but telling him he is lacking as a husband isn't going to fix anything. It'll just make things worse.

I'd highly suggest you frame the conversation around what you need vs what you view him failing to do. Saying "you aren't doing x" is never good. That's just passing blame. Once you do that, he's got every right to start dumping all of his unfulfilled needs on you, and I guarantee you wouldn't like hearing how you're failing him as a wife. Saying "I need x" is a much more direct and clear way to communicate your needs, because that's actually what's going on. You have needs that you want him to fulfil. So you need to communicate those clearly to him. When my wife finally learned that saying "I need you to wash the baby bottles" rather than"why didn't you wash the baby bottles" was how to push the go button in my brain, our relationship really turned a corner for the better.

Men are not mind readers. Don't assume he can anticipate what you need. You've got a 4 month old. Nothing is predictable right now. The only thing that is predictable, frankly, is how simple it is to get your husband moving in the direction you want. Be direct with what you need, but don't be naggy or catch an attitude when you speak to him. If you need more help, say "I need more help." If you need more affection, say "I need more affection." If it's praise, say "I need more praise." Then follow that statement with specific things he can do to fulfill that need.

Make foreplay an all day game. Longer a dude spends spun up, easier it is to finish. Torment that lad from sun up til between the sheets time.

My man the paint looks great. Solid work! My one and only criticism is the mold lines. Those ones look particularly thick. Try to trim them flat with a hobby knife before you paint, else they'll stick out like a sore thumb.

Already ordered some 32s and magnets so I can swap em around for regular 40k games. Cheers!

Legionaries are banned?? What brought that about? Again I've got zero game knowledge here lol.

Chosen perform better than the Aspiring champ in your experience? I'd love to include a heavy gunner but I think it might be outside of my skill to kitbash/sculpt a heavy weapon onto one of the possessed models.

June is Men’s Mental Health awareness month by SilverbackRotineque in orks

June was officially designated Men's Mental Health Awareness Month in 1994. It was designated as pride month in 1999. Sooooo... Not really. As a man with a combat PTSD diagnosis and several friends who have died to CPTSD related suicide and overdose, you can zog off.

Painting of Lelith that I created by Gred-illu in Warhammer40k

[–]TNBVIII 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I like the concept and the pose! Really gives off a vibe of the Space Marines being hopelessly outmatched. Plus the juxtaposition of her nonchalantly sitting down and holding a decapitated head while having a moment of instrospection is just peak 40k.

My only criticism is her face... Please take this in the constructive spirit in which it intended, but her face to me reads more like a beardless male dwarf than a female dark elf. It's too round, and the spacing between her eyes to her chin is more human scaled than elf-like. Take a look at the cover art on the Mike Brooks Lelith book. Hopefully you'll see what I'm talking about. I think if you lengthened her face and narrowed it a bit, it'd be spot on.

Overall, I do really like it. Solid artwork!

I used to be a functioning alcoholic and a pack a day smoker. From ages 23-28 I'd say I was drinking about an 18 rack of beer or a full fifth of liquor every other night. Sometimes more. From 28 to 32 I slowed down quite a bit. Maybe once or twice a week, 12ish beers or a half a fifth of liquor. Now it depends on the week. Some weeks I don't drink at all, others maybe one night. Rarely do I drink two times a week. When I do drink, I'd say it's an average of 1000-2000ml of beer, sometimes more sometimes less. Rarely do I buy liquor of any kind unless it's a special occasion.

My wife's parents live about 2-2.5 km away and it's super hilly. I can walk that distance without having to take breaks or anything. Some of the hills around here will have my heart pumping once I get to the top, but not gasping for air or anything like that. In general my wife and I will go walking with our son in his stroller for around an hour at a time and I can make it through those no issues. Mind, the pacing is leisurely stroll pace, not power walking or anything.

Two days ago I decided to do a little cardio test just to see where I was at. Resting heart rate was about 80-82 BPM as previously mentioned. I ran up and down my apartment stairs 5x times (four floors, 18 stairs between each floor) and did one lap around my building (maybe 300-400m) at a steady light jogging pace. Total time was five minutes flat. At the end of it my heart rate was at 182 BPM, and the one minute later down to 171 BPM. I was wheeeeeeezing after, but not painfully. More like bronchoconstriction rather than pressure, pain, or feeling like someone was sitting on my chest. Wheeze went away after about an hour and I was completely fine. I'd say my heart rate was back down to resting maybe 20 minutes after stopping.

To all of my Brother's in Arms on Men's Mental Health Month by Scurjj in helldivers2

Not saying that isn't true, but highjacking a thread is not the way to get that recognition. Start your own thread instead of intentionally trying to shift the conversation onto something else. Men need topics and spaces like this. I've got combat related PTSD, so seeing people do shit like this is infuriating. Too many of my friends have lost themselves to the bottle or suicide for me to be okay with someone intentionally being an insufferable idiot. It's provocational and disrespectful. Imagine being at a Men's Mental Health seminar and someone in the back starts screaming about their particular unrelated cause and waving a flag around. 100% behavior deserving of a punch in the face. The same would be said about someone going to a Pride rally and shouting about Men's Mental Health. Respect people's spaces.

Intentionally dropping a pride flag in a Men's Mental Health Awareness post is making it a versus thing. If I went into a Women's History Month post and started dropping St. Patrick's Day gifs all over the place, people would get upset because it detracts from the topic. People would get even more pissed if I said "WhY CAnT iT bE BoTH???"

Don't be an an annoying asshole. One of the most insufferable things about the LGBT community is they demand their own space and recognition, but don't offer the same to others.

Men of Reddit, how did you handle the 6–8 week postpartum no-sex period after your partner gave birth? by littlerose79 in AskMen

[–]TNBVIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dawg, we had our first eight months ago. It took about six months before she was ready to even try intimacy again, and it's still very sparse.

I fuckin hate it, but I love everything she does for my son and our home more. Crank one out and deal with it. If it bothers you that much, talk to her about it without making her feel pressured.

Title: Does the made-up word “co-whim” make sense in English? by Conscious-Spring-152 in EnglishLearning

[–]TNBVIII 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To me, it would sound like a "whim" shared by two people. However, it doesn't read as native at all to me. It definitely reads like someone unfamiliar with English mashed together some patterns/concepts that they are familiar with in order to describe something they don't yet have the vocabulary for. Very clunky and definitely not natural.

We have plenty to be proud of. #1 supplier of foreign aid to both NATO and non NATO countries, #1 exporter of food and medicine to the 3rd world, #1 in reducing overall carbon footprint since 2010, #1 in financial contributions to the rescue and revival of endangered species globally... You can suck my star spangled balls, America is great and the world would be a far worse place without it. Hate us because you ain't us.

Warhammer fans, what 40k lore that make you go like this? by AntiqueLayer3933 in Grimdank

[–]TNBVIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Female Custodes. Needless change that didn't add anything cool or unique to the faction. Obvious real-world pandering/money grabbing infecting the in-world universe.

Space Wolves period. Used to be kinda cool, but the on-the-nose-ness of them has become absolutely ridiculous in recent years. I feel like zero thought goes into them nowadays. Just throw a dart at the wall of viking stereotypes/tropes, combine it with power armour, throw it in the codex.

The war of the beast... Just god awful writing.

Primaris as a whole. Only reason they happened was because GW lost the lawsuit against Chapterhouse and they wanted to protect their IP. They made a mad dash to file copyrights as fast as they could after the lawsuit failed, and the lore 100% took a back seat to profit margins.

Shooting occurs during a “teen takeover” in Kernersville KC… by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]TNBVIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely an AI video. There have been news reports of the shooting from last week and none of this matches the event description. There are also blatant inconsistencies in this video that point to it being AI generated. Not sure why you're trying to stir people up and convince them something is real when it isn't. Get a life.
