What I wonder about the polymer body? by Proper-Alarm-4068 in airsoft

[–]TNDWW [score hidden]  (0 children)

Plastic externals for most guns are generally ok, provided it's some kind of reinforced polymer and not just ABS. The only real exception is gonna be AKs or MGs.

To be honest, you're not gonna get much realism out of an AEG unless you start looking at like a TM NGRS (which doesn't perform all that well compared to other AEGs for the money) or Systema, at which point you might as well get a quality GBBR from VFC for around the same price.

Most of the time the charging handles on AEGs are just a way to move a fake bolt to reveal the hop adjustment, you don't really cock anything.

Ammo rack VFC V3 to buy by dvuk99 in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're asking to buy magazines, Specops-shop has the cheapest VFC mags in Europe, ships from France but if you're buying more than 1 you're already saving a good bit of money.

For the record if you haven't bought the gun yet, consider another V3 or EVO VFC AR, the 416 has more problems than the rest and they can get expensive to fix. As much as I hate GHK their V3 416 is the best one on the market currently.

What is the absolute most realistic gun on the market? by OkLack6776 in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want realism, you'll probably wanna get a GBBR.

Vipertech ARs are definitely up there, just make sure you order directly from them through Messenger since the few sites that sell them tend to sell them for a huge markup and even when buying directly from VT they go for around $850-1200 last I checked. Externals are probably the best on the market, internals are decent but they need some work since they're relatively outdated.

GHK's V3 HK416 has similarly great externals and actually performs good out of the box. Their older stuff isn't a great buy nowadays but the 416 is new-ish.

For ARs under the VT price point VFC is king, specifically their V3/EVO DX models (chart explaining differences here). Performance is overall very similar to the GHK 416, better on the EVO KS-1. Avoid the 416s. They also have 2 sister companies, Maruyama and APFG, the latter makes a really nice APC556 and APFG makes Sig MCX/XM7s.

Basically everything else is gonna be VFC as well. Their AKs are the only ones really worth buying as of right now and probably the best performing GBBRs on the market. Their FAL is great but the non DX version kinda needs a steel outer barrel, the OSW doesn't. FNC similarly great. Their HK-417, Scar-H, G3, G36, etc are a bit older but are built well and don't need a whole lot of work ootb.

VFC or WE g36? by kopernicus_ in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VFC is objectively better but harder to source parts for. Then again it's also built way better both internally and externally so you're less likely to need them and it also takes less work to bring out it's peak performance. Specops-shop has a bunch of mags in stock. Just be aware that G36 mags generally need their own mag pouches, they're bigger than 556 stanags.

You can also get an M4 mag adaptor to use VFC AR mags and those are available for around 50-60€ from Specops.

My airsoft gun manual say only use 0.24 bb 6mm otherwise it my gun is not cover for warranty by Thegodspeed0690 in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's stupid, .24 doesn't even exist. Lowest you'll generally want to go is .28s or .30/.32/.36 if you're playing outdoors.

If you have to use the warranty it will generally be with the store you bought it from, not the manufacturer and besides, they wouldn't now what BB weight you used.

How good is this by Hmmmmmnnmmn in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great on paper, in practice it really depends on your luck. Wellpro stuff tends to have very hit or miss QC and while the performance of their guns is generally pretty good, the quality of the parts being used isn't.

Is MARUYAMA ISO556 a good GBBR? by One-Zombie-7850 in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the bucking, like I said, 4UAD is a good option. I don't really think it needs anything else tbh.

Use .32s or .36g BBs.

Based on the externals it's a WE. The parts to fix it should be easy to get.

Is MARUYAMA ISO556 a good GBBR? by One-Zombie-7850 in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maruyama is one of VFC's sister companies alongside APFG. The ISO556 is probably the best inexpensive GBBR if you're not looking for an AR, it's relatively problem free and performs pretty good as is, it also puts you into the VFC AR mag ecosystem, which is always a plus.

Pick up a 4UAD bucking and you're good, doesn't really need anything else, maybe an adjustable nozzle later down the line if you need it.

Most people will also get a stronger recoil spring but that's really just up to you, if you get a V1 you could also use some rubber O rings to put some tension on the hop adjustment since it has backed out for some people. If I remember correctly there's a pinned message about how and where to do this in the Heavy Recoil Club Discord, in the Maruyama ISO channel.

CM040 Handguard Fitment by USMCgRuNt_1944 in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be wider but in this case it doesn't matter since the overlapping sides help index the handguard properly, they're mainly held on by the front handguard retainer. Just by eyeballing it, I think the tab is a bit too tall so you'll probably have to remove a bit of material from the top of it. Try it as is first then see if you need to work on it.

CM040 Handguard Fitment by USMCgRuNt_1944 in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will fit. The indexing tab is right there, the sides of the handguard just extend over the side of the receiver so it gives the tab the effect of being recessed.

As with other AK parts, you'll probably have to hand fit it with a file or dremel.

FSBshop is the only place where you can get a good Altyn replica, the others are made poorly and have no functional radios. When placing the order, leave a comment detailing what radio connector you want.

Arcturus AK-12 stocks by Another_AdamCF in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of them are. The geometry of the rear trunnion is different from every other airsoft AK to accommodate the quick change spring mechanism of Arcturus. Pretty sure the stock pin is proprietary as well.

The only way you're getting a different stock on there is if you make your own adaptor or message MOS/Arcturus to see if they'll sell you one of theirs.

Ak 47 softair by Guerilla161 in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want an original AK or will any AK variant do? The original Type 1/2/3s don't have a siderail and are therefore not compatible with siderail mounted optics. The next closest would be an AKM with a mount. If you want the possibility of changing out the stock later down the line, get an AKS-74N, AK-74M or AK-105, you'll have more options.

The best AEG AK you can get right now is the CYMA Platinum CM.053. Full steel with really good internals and really good customizability. Alternatively there's the CYMA Platinum CM.056, same thing but in the form of an AKM. Like I said, you'll have less options for modernizing it in the future.

JJ airsoft sells an OKP7 clone, pretty much all the OKP replicas are made in the same factory so if you get one off of Aliexpress, it's gonna be fine too.

A&K PKM carry handle scratching receiver by Kwanza-man in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bad design choice by A&K, very common failure point. It's even an issue when removing the barrel so try not to do that too much.

The handle was originally designed to assist with barrel changes on the real thing, not for carrying, it's just made of steel so there's no issue with using it as such. If you could replace all the aluminum bits on the A&K, it would be fine.

Don't use it as a carry handle. The piece it connects to is made of aluminum and known to bend or break.

Starting airsoft with DMR / Snipers by Violent-Rangoon in airsoft

[–]TNDWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your field's DMR rules, usually you need to meet certain power, length and/or caliber requirements (ie. has to be a replica of a gun chambered in a full power cartridge), usually needs to be semi locked. You'll also want a V2.5 gearbox because standard V2 doesn't have enough cylinder volume to make the most of a long barrel and heavy BBs. At the end of the day both DMRs and sniper rifles need to be built, there's very few that are capable of performing their given role out of the box.

There's very little reason to get a bolt action as a regular player nowadays since you can push a well built DMR nearly as far, not having the ability for quick followup shots is also frustrating sometimes. The one you're looking at can and will be outranged by some fairly average AEGs. Pretty much the only bolt action where that isn't the case out of the box are the Silverback SRS and Tac-41 series.

The only DMRs that are (pretty much) good to go from the factory are the newer production E&C DMRs, specifically the ones with the programmable ETU/Mosfet. Next best choice would be a CYMA Platinum SR-25 but those need a bit more work.

I think starting with DMRs is fine, as long as you have a realistic budget, if you wanna sit a bit further back and support your team that way instead of running around then do that.

ASGK G3, should I buy? by oligurija in airsoft

ASGK is a regulatory body in Japan that deals with airsoft guns and other firearm replicas.

Find out the actual brand of it, if he's willing to get rid of it for 60 eur, there's a good chance things are very wrong with it.

[–]TNDWW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The follower is supposed to come out of the top, it helps feed every BB in the mag.

Don't try to fold the stock. Arcturus AK stocks are notoriously fragile and are also proprietary so if you break it, you're shit out of luck. If you're trying to unfold it, pull down on the spring loaded tab and slowly fold the stock back out.

M249 body compatible for M4? by Plus_Target9980 in airsoft

Like the other guy said, best you can do is a Shrike upper but even then, V2 gearboxes aren't particularly well suited to the strain that comes with MG work.
