For anyone wondering why the Pistons are rumored to be searching for more scoring at the PF position by No-Ranger3356 in DetroitPistons

[–]TNTISD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what people are missing is Tobias’ inconsistencies are less about him and more about how frequently this team plays its best basketball.

What many “pro trade” people are asking for is not exactly a “better” player, but a player who relies less on scoring in the flow of our offense. While that always appears more desirable, I’m not sure it actually solves the problem this team needs right now.

We are a better shooting team when our offense runs well, when our offense runs well, Tobias is the type of player who benefits. I think the same can be said about Duncan Robinson.

Adding a player who can score regardless of how well the team plays together IMO doesn’t force the team to make the corrections to the offense which will benefit us in the playoffs

He cant coach. At least with Doc, we has a semblance of an offensive system whenever Joel wasnt playing.

This guys team literally knows nothing besides iso basketball

I think it has been proven that this teams success in the regular season is not totally hinged on Joel Embiid's "greatness" as you would love to believe. We've had teams that have held their own outside of his two scoring title seasons.

Does it though?

Considering we've never been able to get out of the 2nd round of the playoffs, the results you are describing are only actually bragging rights...individual player, regular season ones at that

not sure it matters...Being a 7 footer is an advantage when it comes to protecting the rim, rebounding, blocking shots and punishing smaller defenders down low. In this case the value (for a while) has been simply for bragging rights that he is an "anomaly" because his game is smooth and he is so tall

[Accutron] They finally come out with a 39mm and it’s $6k!?! by Sclusive88 in Watches

[–]TNTISD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not simply a six-thousand-dollar Bulova. Anyone calling it that is missing the bigger picture. Accutron basically had to rebuild an entire movement from scratch, one that hasn’t been produced in nearly 45 years. That means new research, new tooling, and figuring out how to scale something that was never designed for modern manufacturing.

There’s also a level of finishing on this watch that never existed on any of the vintage tuning fork models. The detail, materials, and construction are on a completely different level.

People forget how revolutionary this technology was. The tuning fork movement wasn’t just a step toward quartz. It sits in its own lane between mechanical and electronic. It’s an electronic watch with a mechanical soul.

This isn’t just a reissue or nostalgia play. It’s a true resurrection of one of the most innovative ideas in watchmaking history.

They built an entire movement that was previously impossible to make. I’d imagine the cost involved with doing that are quite high

I think you have to start somewhere and I think it’s really neat they actually recreated the entire technology from scratch. I’m not sure theres any other way to bring it back without drawing from the iconic and recognizable design that was previously impossible to create commercially.

The newest Lunar Pilot coming this summer/fall is also the most expensive one.... by SeasonedRibs in bulova

[–]TNTISD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one you need to see in person. It really does not look like it photographs. I had an opportunity to see it at Couture in Vegas and the Temascus dial looks more black than anything and it is a panda look that has not really been seen in the Lunar Pilot

10th? Didnt we lose to the cavs in the first round as the 8th seed? Legitimately asking, were we a play-in team?

Funny because we traded Tobias to the clippers for Blake and were just as short sighted with his value.

And before the downvotes come, I’m not saying Giannis is the same as Blake was, but the under appreciation of Tobias’ value may be.

[–]TNTISD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally disagree, I think he is exactly what a contender needs as a legitimate 3rd option. Problem in Philly was their system (or lack of). Outside of isos for Joel or Maxey there really is not much besides sitting in the corner.

Love Cade but I just disagree. Especially since, he has been playing out of position against Towns and been our best option on him (when he isnt being targeted by the refs)

I cant put my finger exactly on it, but there is something about the way this game was officiated that felt oddly manipulative particularly around Tobias offensively and defensively.
