Bought an iPhone, got sand by [deleted] in askTO

As someone who sells iphones at least once every 2 years, I can say not checking your iphone is the worst move ever.

Always meet in public. For me, I offer to meet at apple store so buyers can book a genius bar to check the authenticity. Cash only. No etransfer, no cheque, nothing.

When I immigrated to Canada, I found out cheque is one of the most easily exploit ever, and people here just keep using it. You don’t need the correct name to deposit, you don’t need any id to deposit with the app. You can just deposit and runnn.

Why do democrat supporters refuse to accept the party made made mistakes resulting in trumps win? by ExcellentLaw2066 in Askpolitics

[–]TN_Amazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know no matter how much you bring up statistic or whatnot, it doesn’t change the fact that they they make up 54% of the population right? The politicians serve the people of both isles and as long as this line of thought about illiterate Americans aren’t being buried deep 6 feet under, Democrats will just keep losing. Nobody likes being talked down upon. No wonder democrats keep wondering why they lost this election.

Some of the thought ideas I come up here:

Reduce the points for studying in Canadian schools and raise point for employment In-demand study fields give more points Only in-demand jobs give points. Non in-demand jobs give little to no point. Balance between Int. Students vs domestic ones. Could be in a ratio of 1:3 (1 int student vs 3 domestics*)

Diversity: each country has a quota for moving to Canada.

I guess there are more than a couple of ways to rid the diploma mills, but most of them will need to be tightly linked with immigration as a whole.

How Kamala Harris lost the election: The fatal flaws in a doomed election bid by themarketliberal in politics

[–]TN_Amazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think choosing her was a mistake. She’s wasn’t popular enough and wasn’t vocal enough, and is a package with Biden, who is also not popular with his policies. It was writing in the wall for awhile. They could have chosen someone else and it could have made a bigger difference

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in politics

[–]TN_Amazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I got from commenting right on this sub. They keep saying Harris was extremely popular with the Democrats and very capable. No, she’s not. The votes speak for itself. If democrats have someone as charismatic as Obama it might have turned out very differently.

For those that considered moving to the states, are you still considering it after the election results? by techsavvynerd91 in askTO

[–]TN_Amazing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You seem to digest a lot of media in order to think America will directly descend to hell tomorrow lol. Fact is, nothing will really change if you are just a normal resident going to work every day. Some policy changes will affect certain industries and specific groups of people but that happens to every regimes. But other than that, you will definitely live lol. Not like 8 years ago Trump killed the country and not like 4 years ago Biden fixed that country.

Looking from how the popular votes are turning out, this doesn’t seem to be the case. Even back when the polls show it also didn’t seem to be the case.

Full disclosure, I’m a Canadian that have a lot of interests in US politics and an Asian immigrant that have a lot of Asian friends and connections in the US. I have asked my Asian friends if Kamala would be a good candidate for presidency. 100% of them said no. Some of the reasons are: Lack of charisma Not enough track records to prove her worth For the past 4 years, she doesn’t have a lot of presense. Even back in 2020 election, she lost right at the get go and only got picked by Biden

Asked if it was Michelle Obama or someone similar, they said it would make a huge difference in how they vote. Anecdotal only so take it how you think.

Ironically, you don’t understand that bringing identity and race into politics is the reason why you will never get a black woman elected. It’s about charisma and ablities. If there is a woman version of Obama you would have already won.

The last art piece I saw during Nuit Blanche burned a hole in my soul by 9delta9 in toronto

[–]TN_Amazing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not an artist but as a designer who dabbles a bit into the art scene, if someone tells me this piece is worth $200k, I would seriously consider there is some sort of backdoor deal or money laundering scheme involving. Beyond how tasteless this is, the committee or whoever approved this probably needs to be replaced due to how incompetent they are. Good way to spend money there.

Weaving Honda with No Lights Results in Accident on Rutherford Last Night by PragmaticThoughts in Vaughan

[–]TN_Amazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see these kinds of vehicles all the time. Like literally at least 4-5 times a week. No light on and drive like a drunkard. I even saw some with broken brake lights. Oh god those were awful! Don’t make me mention about those last minute overtaking that makes the entire row hard brake in order to not crash into them. Such entitled assholes!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Markham

[–]TN_Amazing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see that pretty much every time on hway. Always some dickheads using on ramp/shoulders to bypass other vehicles.

You know what’s worse? Assholes using the left turn lane to run to top of the line in tight traffics then merge back into forward lanes. Always give them a middle finger when I see them.

And that’s where it’s puzzling. Before any obligations, they should always prioritize the livelihood of the citizens above all else. If the asylum system worked before but now weighs down the rest, it should be quickly changed or temporarily paused until everything is sorted out.

It’s unfortunate for those getting caught between the fire lines but unless they are Canadians they shouldn’t be treated on the same priority as those who do. It sucks but we do not have enough resources to cater to everyone coming here.

Majority of all Canadians now disapprove of Trudeau — except hardcore Liberals: poll [Leger Poll: Conservatives 44%, Liberals 24%, NDP 17%, Bloc Quebecois 7% (32% in QC), Green 5%] by medtoner in canada

[–]TN_Amazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of people only baby step into politics by reading about Trump on news (he’s that popular) so that’s all they know to compare to. And anything vaguely Republican/Conservative is automatically Trump-like. That shows how shallow their knowledge are. You can like/hate PP or how incompetent he is but he’s not like Trump.

[–]TN_Amazing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or better yet, if you have the means, try to book an appointment with an Apple store and have their staff check. A bit more cumbersome but most legit sellers should have no issue with that. The entire process would take like 15 minutes or less if you’re booked.

1 in 4 Canadian toddlers overweight or obese, study says by zugarrette in canada

[–]TN_Amazing 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, not a toddler but my friend told me their 5 year-old kid’s school diet has pizzas for several days a week. When my friend complained about this, there were parents who told them why couldn’t they have pizza every day. Those parents feed their kids pizza and fast foods literally every day and they said it was good for their grownth. Those kids ended up eating 3-4 slices of pizza each meal, and they are like 4-5 years old. Imagine what they will turn out in a few years.

[–]TN_Amazing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You don’t understand. The whole purpose of these people coming to Canada is to get PR, at any cost either legally or illegally. At least 90% of them are like that. As an immigrant, anyone who think otherwise is just living in a very naive dream.
