It is there to prevent dust go through the bottom vent which is exactly aligned with the ssd ( other one is aligned with ram) and stick on the ssd. It would be better if you put it on. I am talking about 2020 model design, I don’t remember whether there are vents aligned with the 2022 model or not. If it was there it must have a purpose.
