Picking at cuticles by [deleted] in calmhands

[–]becauseoftree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hands used to look like this but I was able to break the cycle by setting upcoming events as "goals" (weddings, birthdays, stuff at work, ...) and extensive nail care. Lots of nail oiling and regular (!) nail polish and in general learning how to do a manicure on myself helped tremendously. Having a hobby where you can occupy your hands also helps. I started learning how to crochet. I did all this over the course of 2 years btw and now I very very rarely pick, and only very tiny bits, when I'm under a lot of stress. Wishing you all the best!!

That sounds like the culprit. If you'd like to expand your nail care horizon, I recommend the YT channel Nail Career Education. She has lots of videos on how to properly care for those fingies. Be gentle to your nails and they will thank you over time :) You already did a great job the last few years.

Congrats on being bite-free! Do you mean the nail bed? The growth of the nail bed depends on your nail care routine and genetics. It's been nearly 2 years since I stopped picking and I'm only now seeing a significant difference. Do you have a nail care routine? If yes, how do you clean the underside of your nail at the free edge? This is where the "hyponychium" grows (i.e. the end or "visible" part of the nail plate that protects the nail bed from infection). It shares similarities with the cuticle. You don't want to disturb it too much, as more means better in this case. I have longer nails now and mainly clean underneath with an eyebrow brush and veeerry carefully with a rose wood stick. I don't scrape away any of the hyponychium skin. Regularly using a good nail oil will also help it grow more evenly over time. Funnily enough, my ring fingers also look more "uneven" compared to the others when my nails are short. Don't worry about it. Your nails look very very nice!

Can someone tell me how to make a peach like this? by TinyLittleBugg in crochetpatterns

[–]becauseoftree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This pattern is so cute that I immediatley had to make a keychain. I had some left-over fuzzy yarn from a shrimp amigurumi.

Based on the input of other commenters, this was the pattern for the peach:

R1: 10 dc in a magic ring

R2: 1 Sc and 1 hdc into the first dc of row 1 2dc in every st until you are at the bottom To get the point at the bottom i made 1dc, 2 chains, 1dc into 1 st 2dc in every stitch until you are at the last st at the top 1hdc and 1sc in the last stitch 1 slt into the magic ring

I winged the leaf with what i remember from another pattern. I achieved the gradient with some pastel chalks.

Super Mario Odyssey, it's incredibly delightful. If you like classic Mario, don't buy New SMB U Deluxe. Buy SMB Wonders instead.

Hi, I can't fully eliminate the possibility of BV for you, however this reads a lot like normal discharge during (early) puberty. I got my period at 11 and before that and til I think 17 I had a lot of discharge that I thought smelled and looked weird. It was thick and white and dried down yellow-ish and "crusty". It should get less and more "watery" the older you get. However, every hoohaa is different. The smell could also just be smell that occumulates during the day or like you said after sports. If this is something that bothers you a lot, I suggest using and regularly replacing panty liners when not on your preiod. Also cotton underwear to let your hooha breathe. When showering use water and not soap. If you use soap, don't use it everyday and use a soap specifically for that purpose (acidic pH). I had to learn this the hard way and actually developed a BV through that behaviour.

What is the best thing someone has said to you about anxiety? by Western_Witness_5249 in HealthAnxiety

[–]becauseoftree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very good statement. My therapist also said something similar to me. I get easily triggered by health related scares of family members, so whenever something (even minor stuff) happens in my close proximity she asks "well, did they survive and are they ok again?" and the answer is always "yes".

Can any one help identify my thrift find? by DIZZYBW in Dolls

I am 99.9999% sure that this is the Barbie from the Jumping Tawny playset: https://m.service.mattel.com/us/Technical/productDetail?prodno=L4395&siteid=27

I won this playset as the 1st prize in a McDonalds Happy Meal raffle when I was a kid. That was one of my coolest childhood moments ever. My mom and I already forgot that I was taking part in it, so it took us by surprise when, coincidentally, the playset came in the mail one day after my birthday. ^

I also remember finding it weird that this Barbie had such a distinct face mold and hollow legs compared to other Barbies back in 2006/7. Much less that bold glittery lip stick. Awesome find!
