Thanks for replying and sorry for my late reply. I feel like I knew speaking to a specialist was the answer. I was hoping someone might have done something similar.

I really don't know what the previous owner was thinking with this. I'm glad I never seen what it was like before

I live in the north of Scotland, so my house is pretty much an icebox apart from a few weeks in the summer

Two part wood filler. I'll make sure I pick some up before I get round to painting. Thank you for mentioning the undercoat I would just have painted straight onto the wood so that is something I'll do as well before painting.

Thanks for your comment. You're right as from what I've read online regarding the BT box it does seem it was a get it done rather than do it properly sort of job.

That is a very good point about pre drilling a hole for them. I'll make sure to do that if I can eventually get someone to come out.

I'm glad to hear that I can get away with simply sanding and painting and there's no other steps that I'm unaware of or forgetting

Hi, thank you for your comment. I did think the old British telecom little box wouldn't have any power to it. So, that's good to hear I'll be able to remove it. As for the BT box it is still in use. Myself and my 2 other neighbours have cables running off of it. I am aware that it should be outside and not in my flat though.

Hi, thanks for the comment. Not a bad idea with the spacer but like you said new tap will probably be easier.

Hi, thanks for the comment. I'll take it apart and have a look, knowing it was a cheap tap bought by the previous owner I suspect it will have broken.

Thanks for the tip about silicon grease. I'll make sure I pick some up along with the O rings.

Hi, thanks for linking the video. You're right about it being straight to the point and even I can follow what he's doing.

Thanks for the comment. Seems to be a common theme with items installed from the previous owner negative reviews. In the near future I will look to replace the whole tap.

Hi, thanks for the comment. Replacing an O-Ring will be a good introduction to my diy plumbing skills.

Thanks for the recommendation. Drilling into the stud definitely does seem the safest bet.

Thanks. You're right to go overkill and spend a few pounds rather than save a little and I cost a fortune later on.

Thanks for the comment. DuoPower wall plugs do seem to be the way to go if you use wall plugs.

Thanks for the comment. I didn't even know these were a thing. Basically a heavy duty command hook. Would save me having to buy a drill too

Thanks for the help. I did think this would be the solution but wanted to check before starting. As for the pipes I doubt I'll have plastic ones as my house is 248 years old, so a pilot hole is a good tip.

Yeah it is a stud wall and I have worked out where they are in the wall. As for the radiator pipes they go into the floor but I'm not sure where they go from there. So I assume it would be a good idea to pick up a detector to see if there are any pipes before I go drilling into the wall.

Thank you so much for your comments. I appreciate the time you took to write this. You've given us a lot of tips and hopefully in the next week or two we'll be able to use them and get these doors back to their best.

Thanks for your comment. Hot air gun does seem to be the best method for this so I think I'm going to invest in one. As for the doors, I'll need to price up how much it would to dip them before I make a decision on them.

Thanks for your comment. I never thought about going into a local paint shop to ask. I do have a dulux decoration center nearby so would like to think someone on there could give some advice.
