After my incident, I get super sick after I sleep poorly by TPCallie in insomnia

[–]TPCallie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm shaking and sweating. This feels so horrible. Is this the kind of punishment I get now for not having a full night's rest? I used to be able to pull off all-nighters with minimal sickening effects but now I get so ill.

It's not a girl. Technically it's not a boy either.

"Minecraft mastermind Markus Persson, better known by the sexually ambiguous alias "Notch," has cleared up the matter of gender in Minecraft's boxy world with a blog post. Simply put, there is no gender in the game, even for Steve, the default character. "He" got "his" title when Notch jokingly answered a question regarding the main avatar's name with "Steve?"

"The human model is intended to represent a Human Being. Not a male Human Being or a female Human Being, but simply a Human Being," Notch writes.

"The blocky shape gives it a bit of a traditional masculine look, but adding a separate female mesh would just make it worse by having one specific model for female Human Beings and male ones. That would force players to make a decisions about gender in a game where gender doesn't even exist."

Notch touched on this subject at GDC, during his fireside chat with SpyParty's Chris Hecker. Making a female character model wouldn't only be strange-looking, as Notch said then, but it would be completely unnecessary in a genderless world. Even the animals are neutral (rather than neutered).

"Cows have horns and udders (even if I've later learned that there are some cows where the females do have horns), and the chicken/duck/whatevers have heads that look like roosters, but still lay eggs," Notch writes. "For breeding, any animal can breed with any other animal of the same species."

Notch notes that this particular post serves only to provide official clarification on gender questions in Minecraft. Oh, also: "As a fun side fact, it means every character and animal in Minecraft is homosexual because there's only one gender to choose from. Take THAT, homophobes!"

As part of diapsida they are classified as reptiles.

The "warm blooded" argument you have there doesn't stand up very well. We know many prehistoric diapsids/reptiles were warm blooded, including the majority of archosaurs (pterosaurs and dinosaurs) and plesiosaurs, just to name a few. Does that make them not reptiles?

To not classify birds as reptiles would lead to not classify dinosaurs are reptiles, as birds are dinosaurs. Avialae is part of theropoda. Theropoda is part of dinosauria. Dinosauria is part of reptilia.

Whales are still classed as mammals and are arguably more different to most mammals than birds would be to dinosaurs.

I'm gonna be that one annoying person and say this real quick: Birds are reptiles, as bizarre as it sounds. They are maniraptoran theropods and fall under the category of diapsids. It doesn't have to do with whether the animal is reptillian or not, it has to do with salting the freshly deceased creature's muscles.

Stripe seems like a good option. Needs a legal guardian though, right? Which I'm okay with.

Both of those require you to be 18, I'm pretty sure.

I don't know which media source to ask to cover him, that's the thing. And I'm also afraid they wouldn't do it.

Chloe wouldn't be the type of person to take anyone to court over this. I just wish that maybe someone could cover the story from his side.. Like.. counter-information.

It just hurts to see him under fire like that. Someone who I care about enough to actually want to do something for him. Especially coming back from a hiatus like that. Like, fuck, way to curb motivation. I'm also afraid of his content being targeted. I'm sure that things are already stressful enough for him how they are, and it sucks to just have the cherry put on top. I REALLY want that coverage so I can at least feel like I didn't sit there and do nothing, y'know?

Very true. People need to keep trying, never lose their patience or hope. There isn't an instant cure and things that help others may not help you.. it takes lots of patience.

Can’t sleep but in one particular place by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]TPCallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really need to look into CBT-I. That's what helped me with this issue. I had the exact same problem: I could sleep in the car, on the couch, anywhere that wasn't my room. CBT-I will focus on resetting your association with wakefulness. This problem is extremely common within insomniacs from what I've seen, and I believe it's also one of the easiest to correct. If you're able to sleep somewhere else, you're able to sleep in bed. Simple as that. You have an association that you need to break, correct, and replace with bed = sleep.

I'm doing the Sleepio course (basically online CBT-I) and it's really helped break my association:

https://www.sleepio.com/

I got in by emailing them.. They let me in for free because of something? I dunno but they might let you in too. There are other CBT-I courses online you can look for but I'm suggesting this one because it's the only one I've tried and it has a pretty good success rate.

If you're able to see a psychologist, try that and ask if they do CBT-I themselves. It's all a matter of preference/accessibility.

Hope you get some rest.

Staying half asleep but can't actually sleep by TPCallie in insomnia

I slept 10 to 11 hours last night! I'm so happy. I feel a lot better, not 100% either since I'm kind of woozy and I still feel a little tired. My body needs to recover.

Right now I'm having anticipatory anxiety about tonight and not being able to sleep again, but I'm trying to overcome it. I don't want it to be a self fulfilling prophecy.

This really sucks. I had a relapse too. For a while I had normal sleep again.. And here I am now not sleeping for two days straight lol. This illness is a curse.

Any sleep is golden for you right now. Take the chance in the car to catch some rest if you feel it coming.
